RESPONSIBILITIES

At the Music School in Gävle, we are looking for a percussion teacher for a permanent position at 80%. We are looking for someone who is passionate about guiding and inspiring children and young people.

From beginners to more advanced students in the world of music, you will have the opportunity to develop students' interest and expression in percussion. It is an advantage if you can teach multiple instruments, but your primary instrument is percussion.

Our goal is to offer meaningful activities and make music life in Gävle accessible to every student.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Teaching percussion both individually and in groups, with a focus on developing students' musical skills.
• Engaging, inspiring, and motivating children and young people with percussion as their primary instrument.
• Planning, implementing, and following up on teaching and music pedagogical activities.
• Participating in activities during school holidays and, as needed, working evenings and weekends.
• Collaborating with colleagues and contributing to the development of the school's pedagogical approach.
• Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment characterized by diversity.

QUALIFICATIONS

At the Music School in Gävle, we are looking for a percussion teacher who is passionate about guiding and inspiring children and young people – from our beginners to more advanced students in the world of music. Do you want to contribute? Then you are warmly welcome to join us!

• Requirement of a high school education, with a university degree in pedagogy or music being an advantage.
• Good ability to communicate in Swedish.
• Demonstrate high professional proficiency in percussion and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
• Advantage if you can teach multiple instruments.
• Experience teaching students both in groups and individually.

To succeed in this role, you are:

• Empathetic and receptive, with the ability to see each student and create safe, trusting relationships.
• Inspiring and motivating, encouraging joy, development, and curiosity in learning.
• Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to meet each student's individual needs.
• Structured and skilled at planning and organizing to create engaging and well-functioning lessons.

You must be able to provide a police certificate of good conduct for work in schools or preschools. This should not be attached to your application but will be requested at the final candidate stage. The position includes activities during school holidays, and work may also occur on evenings and weekends.
