The Department of Law is one of the larger departments at Stockholm University. The department has approximately 150 employees and 5,500 students. More than 70 teachers are engaged on a full-time basis to teach and conduct the research upon which the education is based. About thirty professors with different legal science orientations are located at the department, which constitutes a dynamic environment with top-class research and a strong international profile.

Procedural Law with a focus on Arbitration Law
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities include teaching, research, and administration, as well as contacts with the surrounding society. The position is full-time and includes teaching comprising 70 percent of the annual working time. Teaching includes lectures, seminars, and other interactive course elements, examination, course responsibility, course administration, supervision, as well as the development and updating of teaching materials.
The position involves research and teaching in procedural law with a focus on arbitration law. Teaching in other areas of procedural law than arbitration law may be included, as well as teaching in other subjects.
The responsibilities also include applying for external research funding and following developments within one's own subject area and societal development in general that is relevant to the teacher's work at the university.
Qualifications
According to Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance, eligible for appointment as a university lecturer is someone who has completed a doctoral degree in law or has equivalent scientific competence, and has demonstrated pedagogical skill.
A requirement for the position is good knowledge of English. The person offered the position must be able to conduct legal research and teach in English.
Swedish language proficiency is not a requirement for the appointment, but the applicant must be prepared to take on administrative and pedagogical tasks within a couple of years that require understanding and use of Swedish.
As a general qualification requirement, the applicant must have both the ability to cooperate and the ability and suitability otherwise needed to perform the duties of the position.
Evaluation Criteria
Special and equal weight is attached to scientific and pedagogical skill. Administrative ability and the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society are also given weight.
Preference is given to those who have competence in both arbitration law, especially international arbitration, and other Swedish procedural law.
In assessing scientific skill, the scientific quality of the research is primarily considered. The extent of the research, primarily with regard to depth and breadth, is also considered significant. Special weight is placed on experience in research on arbitration law, especially international arbitration, as well as Swedish procedural law. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop research and doctoral education, as well as the ability to obtain research funding through competition, is considered. The ability to interact both within the scientific community and with the surrounding society is considered significant.
In assessing pedagogical skill, the pedagogical quality is primarily considered. The extent of previous teaching is also considered significant. Special weight is placed on experience in teaching arbitration law, but teaching in other procedural law as well as other legal science subjects is also meritorious. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop teaching, as well as the ability to link teaching to research, is considered. The ability to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with actors within and outside the university is also part of pedagogical skill.
Administrative skill and experience, as well as other skill and experience that is relevant to the position and the duties involved, are also counted as merits. Such skill can, for example, be demonstrated through the ability for overall operational planning, skill in leading operations and personnel, and through the ability to cooperate. The ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research and development work is also a merit.
