The Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, GIH, is Sweden's leading knowledge centre for sports, performance development, physical activity, and health. We conduct high-quality research with societal relevance, focusing on the human being in motion. We educate teachers in the school subject of physical education and health, as well as coaches, health scientists, behavioural scientists, sports and health managers, sports scientists, and researchers. At GIH, 160 employees and 1,400 students work and study. The university college is located in central Stockholm, close to Stockholms Stadion and a large sports and outdoor recreation area.

Job Description

At the Department of Health Sciences, education, research, and collaboration are conducted within the fields of psychology, physical activity, and health.

The position of University Lecturer/Adjunct includes:

  • teaching and supervision at undergraduate and advanced levels
  • course development within relevant educational programs
  • participation in research and development work

The teaching primarily focuses on lifestyle habits with an emphasis on nutrition, and may take place within educational programs, standalone courses, as well as commissioned training at GIH.

Research and development work may include questions concerning:

  • the relationship between lifestyle habits, physical activity, and health
  • the interaction between biological and environmental factors for health

Teaching is primarily conducted in Swedish.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment is the candidate who has:

  • completed a PhD with a focus on epidemiology,
  • shown pedagogical skill,
  • documented competence in nutrition,
  • good ability to teach in Swedish,
  • good collaborative skills.

Evaluation Criteria

The following evaluation criteria have been established for this position:

  • Great weight is placed on extensive teaching experience in nutrition as well as experience in course development,
  • Great weight is placed on good subject knowledge in areas concerning lifestyle habits, health, and disease,
  • Significant weight is attached to personal suitability for the position, such as being flexible and having the ability to work independently and take responsibility for the planning and implementation of teaching,
  • Significant weight is placed on experience in genetic epidemiology or studies where heredity and environment are analyzed in relation to health,
  • Significant weight is placed on administrative skill that is significant for the tasks included in the position,
  • Significant weight is placed on good ability to teach in English,
  • Meritorious with experience of twin studies or other quantitative methodology within genetic epidemiology.

Duration/Working Hours

The employment is a fixed-term position expected to last for approximately 3.5 months, with the possibility of extension. Accession takes place no later than September 1, 2026, or as agreed.

The employment corresponds to 100% of full-time.

Salary

Individual salary setting applies.
