NU Hospital, part of the Region of Västra Götaland, is one of Sweden's larger county hospitals. We are located at NÄL (Norra Älvsborg County Hospital) in Trollhättan and Uddevalla Hospital. The Department

Adult Psychiatry at NU Hospital is divided into four sections. Section 1 consists of general psychiatric inpatient care, the secretariat, and the psychiatric emergency department, while Section 2 handles general psychiatric outpatient care. Section 3 comprises forensic psychiatry, and Section 4 consists of the department's specialist doctors and resident specialists.

Forensic Psychiatry at NU Hospital is located at Brinkåsen, where there are five forensic psychiatric wards and two shared forensic psychiatric resource units. The mission of Forensic Psychiatry is to offer qualified care and rehabilitation to patients sentenced to forensic psychiatric care. The goal is for patients to feel better through treatment and support, and ultimately be able to live a functioning life in society without reoffending.

About the Role

Unhealthy lifestyle habits are a significant problem within forensic psychiatric care. Patients in forensic psychiatry often have long periods of care, making the care environment a central arena for establishing or changing lifestyle habits.

To enable the integration of health-promoting work into forensic psychiatric inpatient care, a project position is now being planned where we are seeking a driven health educator. For the development work to have a real and lasting effect, we believe a dedicated role with a clear mandate, authority, and time to drive change together with other professions around the patient is required.

Responsibilities

As a health educator, you work systematically with mapping, planning, follow-up, and feedback, ensuring that lifestyle habits are integrated into care plans, ward rounds, and daily nursing care. The health educator's role in this project position also involves acting as an active link between the activity house and the wards.

There are great opportunities to help shape the role within the framework of the project position, which largely involves:

• developing and implementing methods to integrate lifestyle habits into the daily life of the wards
• supporting staff in having conversations about lifestyle habits and health as a natural part of care
• contributing to including health-promoting perspectives in care plans and rehabilitation work
• stimulating voluntary participation in health-promoting activities
• working in line with National Guidelines for Care of Unhealthy Lifestyle Habits (2024)

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a health educator. Experience from forensic psychiatry or psychiatry is meritorious, as is a degree in nutrition science and a burning interest in lifestyle habits.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for you who are responsive and thrive working independently but also find it easy to create good collaborations, both within the team and with external actors. You are structured and have the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. You take initiative, especially when it comes to developing new ways of working and shaping roles where the frameworks are not yet established.

Other Information

The employment is fixed-term as a project position for 9 months with the possibility of extension.
