Department of Orthopedics and Hand Surgery
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
The Department of Orthopedics and Hand Surgery offers a broad and varied healthcare service where we perform virtually all orthopedic procedures that can be carried out at an emergency hospital – from acute management of trauma and fractures to planned care within complex prosthetic surgery, spinal surgery, hand surgery, and treatment of orthopedic infections. This gives you, as a nurse, a varied job with both breadth and specialized expertise.
Our department is one of the hospital's largest and is spread over two floors. Here, patients of different ages and with varying care needs are treated – from the newly operated patient who needs close follow-up to the acute patient who requires rapid interventions and secure nursing care.
We work in multidisciplinary teams where the nurse plays a central and important role in the patient's care journey. For you as an experienced nurse, there are great opportunities to use your clinical competence, take responsibility, and contribute to the development of care.
As a night nurse with us, you become a key person in the operations. Together with colleagues, you are responsible for creating safety, continuity, and high patient safety during the night hours. The work suits you if you thrive with independence, appreciate variety, and want to use your experience in a role where you make a real difference every night.
Your Role
With us, you will receive a secure and well-adapted introduction tailored to your previous experience and competence. The length and content of the introduction are planned based on your needs and previous clinical experiences.
As a nurse with us, you work with orthopedic nursing care for patients before and after surgery, as well as with acute and complex care needs. The work includes assessment, planning, and follow-up of the patient's care based on their current condition. The work includes, among other things, pain treatment, infusion treatment, medication management, observation of the patient's status, and identifying and implementing appropriate nursing interventions. You also work with mobilization, wound care, prevention of complications, and coordination of care efforts for continued care and discharge.
With us, you meet patients with varying diagnoses and often other medical conditions, which provides a developing work where you use both your surgical and medical competence.
We offer good opportunities for further development through internal training and competence development within orthopedics and emergency care.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a registered nurse.
Your Competence
We are looking for you who are secure, responsible, and independent in your professional role. You have a good ability to prioritize, make clinical decisions, and lead nursing work based on the patient's needs. You enjoy teamwork, have a professional approach, and contribute to a positive work climate.
We particularly value you who appreciate a varied pace, can maintain calm in complex situations, and want to be part of developing care together with engaged colleagues.
We Offer
We offer permanent employment on a full-time or part-time basis with start date as agreed. The schedule involves permanent night shifts or rotational shifts if desired. With us, you get to work in an exciting and developing operation where your experience is valued. Probation may be applied if you have not previously worked within Region Uppsala.
With us, you receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).
