Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community with colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

The Eating Disorders Unit for Children and Young People belongs to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Akademiska Sjukhuset in the Region of Uppsala. We are responsible for patients up to 18 years of age who require specialized psychiatric healthcare related to eating disorders. We offer outpatient treatment and day hospital treatment. We value teamwork and put the patient and their family at the center of our focus.

As one of only three hospitals in Sweden, Akademiska Sjukhuset has been commissioned to provide national highly specialized care for patients with treatment-resistant eating disorders. Our expanded mandate regarding national highly specialized care comes from the National Board of Health and Welfare and involves assessing the need for continued treatment, providing inpatient care under special conditions, and being responsible for parts of the follow-up care for patients who have been offered treatment. We deliver this care in collaboration between our unit and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry emergency department.

This presents a unique opportunity for you as a PTP Psychologist to become part of our outpatient team, with the possibility of working with patients at various stages of their treatment process.

Your Role

As a PTP Psychologist, you will play a key role in the team, conducting assessments, investigations, and planning and implementing treatment. In your work, you will meet children, young people, and their families affected by eating disorders. Together with the team, you will work with Family-Based Treatment (FBT) or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) adapted for eating disorders. In this multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside doctors, psychologists, specialist nurses, assistant nurses, physiotherapists, and dietitians. You will also contribute to quality improvement work within your area of expertise and engage in evaluation.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who hold a degree in Psychology. Experience with the current patient group and in psychiatry is meritorious. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Your Competence

You are confident in your professional role, which is reflected in your approach to families in crisis. You put the patient first and are responsible and motivated in your work. In addition to your professional knowledge, you are an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good work environment. Being creative, solution-focused, and building conditions for good collaboration through open dialogue within the unit will be important ingredients in our work – along with a measure of endurance.

What We Offer

We offer a permanent full-time position with a start date as agreed. Working hours are during the day. Here, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).

The Region of Uppsala assigns all permanent staff based on the needs of the total defense. This entails no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.

Before a decision on employment is made, a check of the suspicion and criminal records is conducted for all job seekers who, in the sought position, may come to work within psychiatric healthcare, habilitation, care for children and young people, or involuntary care for substance abusers, areas covered by optional record extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to primarily involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.

This recruitment is conducted entirely through the Region of Uppsala, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales representatives.
