Do you want to take overall responsibility for safe, efficient, and sustainable port operations in one of Sweden's most advanced industrial environments? Metsä Board in Husum is now looking for a Port Manager who wants to combine operational presence with strategic responsibility in a business where safety, environment, and quality are at the center.

Metsä Board is part of Metsä Group – an international forest industry group with strong roots in the Finnish forests and a clear focus on sustainable products. In Husum, there is a modern and expanding production facility where the port and warehousing operations are a crucial part of the value chain.

About the role

As Port Manager, you have the overall responsibility for the port's operations, safety, and development. The role spans both operational and strategic issues and involves close collaboration with internal functions, authorities, and external partners.

You report to the Head of Port, Warehouse & Logistics and are located on-site at the port operations at the Husum factory.

Your responsibilities in brief

  • Ensure safe and efficient port operations with a focus on working environment, safety, and environment
  • Be responsible for safety routines, risk assessments, incident management, and exercises
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and authority requirements
  • Plan and coordinate ship calls in collaboration with operations, brokers, and logistics functions
  • Collaborate with the Swedish Transport Administration, the Swedish Maritime Administration, and other relevant authorities
  • Develop and improve working methods, processes, and resource utilization
  • Act as the port's representative towards external stakeholders

We are looking for someone who has

Education

  • University education in a relevant field, such as maritime studies, marine technology, logistics, or equivalent
  • Additional qualifications with specific education or certificates within maritime and safety

Experience

  • At least five years of experience from work within maritime or port operations, preferably in a leading or coordinating role
  • Experience of working at sea or in other maritime activities
  • Extensive experience of safety systems and risk management, both operationally and strategically
  • Experience of collaborating with authorities such as the Swedish Transport Administration and other relevant actors within the maritime sector

Technical competence

  • Good knowledge of current safety and environmental requirements for port and maritime operations
  • Experience of working with both physical and digital security systems
  • Good understanding of regulations, directives, and standards within the area
  • Experience of IT and communication systems linked to security monitoring

Languages

  • Very good skills in Swedish and English, both in speech and writing
