About the Branch

ABF Östra Västerbotten is a newly formed branch covering the municipalities of Skellefteå, Umeå, Bjurholm, Nordmaling, Vännäs, Robertsfors, and Vindeln. Our mission is to promote and conduct study, cultural, and other educational activities in collaboration with our member organizations.

We are non-partisan, but our activities are based on and should be permeated by the fundamental values of the labor movement. This is evident among our member organizations, which include the Social Democratic Party, the Left Party, LO (Swedish Trade Union Confederation), PRO (Swedish Senior Citizens' Organization), RFSL, and several federations within the disability rights movement.

Responsibilities

We are now looking for a person with previous management experience, preferably from work within the non-profit sector, who together with us can ensure that ABF can continue to conduct adult education activities for at least another 100 years.

ABF Östra Västerbotten and the entire adult education sector are undergoing a period of significant change, requiring an executive director with a flexible working approach.

Our staff currently consists of 18 people distributed across our offices in seven municipalities and at our art school in Umedalen. This places demands on your ability and prerequisites to move quickly throughout the entire area.

Main responsibilities:

• Implement and follow up on board decisions such as the business plan and budget.
• Staff management and responsibility for employee working environment.
• Ensure quality assurance of activities and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Ensure that ABF's central guidelines and decisions are implemented.
• Represent ABF in the municipalities where we operate, as needed.
• Collaborate with the ABF district and the other ABF branch in the county.

Qualifications

Your competence and background:

• Relevant education in areas such as pedagogy, adult education, or equivalent.
• Alternatively, documented relevant work experience and competence that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• B-driver's license and access to a private car.
• Good ability to use digital tools for collaboration.
• Experience working as a manager.
• Experience of engagement in non-profit activities.

We consider it meritorious if you have undergone any form of leadership training. It may also be meritorious if you have experience from one of our member organizations.

As a person, we believe you are an inspirer with strong initiative who applies trust-based leadership. We believe you have strong pedagogical skills that you are eager to use to give employees the tools to solve their own work tasks. We also see that you are a structured person who can still apply a flexible approach.

We assume that you have a strong ability to express yourself both orally and in writing, that you have a good understanding of economics, and that you are accustomed to using digital tools in your daily work.

In addition, it is a given for us that you, as an applicant for this position, stand behind the values of the labor movement, can sign ABF's program of ideas, and have high integrity.

Employment and Terms

Employment type: Permanent position.

We offer you an exciting role with great responsibility in a workplace where we work to enable a better tomorrow. We have collective agreements with Handels and the Academic Professionals' Union (Folkrörelseavtalet), which among other things provide occupational pension, several extra days off per year, as well as free prescription medication and free doctor care. In addition, we offer a wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK per year.

The location is Skellefteå or Umeå. In your application, we ask that you state your salary expectations, possible start date, and which town you intend to primarily base yourself from. We apply a six-month probationary period.
