The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crisis, high alert, and war.

The Unit for Societal Critical Communication Services is now looking for a System Architect with a focus on radio. You will be part of an exciting journey and work on the secure communication systems for the next generation, SWEN (The Swedish Emergency Network).

Your responsibilities and tasks

As a System Architect at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, you will primarily work with the development and planning of our service deliveries within the next generation of societal critical communication services, SWEN.

Your tasks include, among other things:

  • Handling all types of radio-related issues arising during the establishment of a new robust radio network based on 3GPP standards.
  • Representing the Agency in radio-related standardization for PPDR (Public Protection and Disaster Relief) needs.
  • Representing the Agency in various international forums, such as SFPG.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who have:

  • A university degree in electrical engineering, physics, or technical physics, or education combined with work experience that we assess provides equivalent competence.
  • At least five years of experience working with radio systems and radio communication.
  • Experience in building radio networks/radio link networks with high availability and robustness.
  • Good ability to speak and write in both Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working with Mission Critical Services (MCX).
  • Experience with radio networks within total defense.
  • Knowledge of wave propagation.
  • Knowledge of security in radio networks.
  • Good understanding of requirements and application of radio networks in business-critical environments.
  • Experience working in radio planning tools.

About the position

We offer you a permanent full-time position starting with a probationary period.

Your place of work will be Stockholm, and travel within the employment will occur.

The majority of our positions involve security clearance. Swedish citizenship is usually required. In the case of security clearance, a security investigation with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are war-placed.

The Program Management & Development Section is responsible for the program management of the next generation of communication systems for societal critical actors. This also includes, among other things, managing the technical infrastructure for testing activities, radio planning, and security.
