Let's introduce ourselves
You will join the ‘SWEP Software Factory’ department within the broad Volvo Cars Engineering organization. We are responsible for the development of CI pipelines, SW Flow, Software-In-Loop (SIL) test frameworks, test rig environments, and data analytics. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Data Architect who will help shape the future of our data landscape and enable data-driven decision-making across our department and SWEP at large. The location is Lund, Sweden.
What you'll do
- Drive architectural alignment across the Software Factory and the broader organization.
- Partner with engineering teams to guide the architecture of data pipelines, storage solutions, APIs, and analytics platforms.
- Work with requirements management and traceability topics.
- Harmonize data visualizations to support program management with execution and improve the overall developer experience.
- Manage stakeholders and do active networking to gather requirements across Engineering.
- Leverage your knowledge of data, analytics, and documentation to provide a holistic one-stop place where developers find a reliable source of information.
- Support work on technical roadmap development for actionable data analytics to provide transparency and observability into CI and test pipelines.
- Support the implementation of dashboards covering KPIs and quality metrics.
What you'll bring
You are an experienced software architect with a curious approach to new challenges and a customer-oriented mindset. You can switch focus between the big picture and technical details when required. You enjoy great teamwork and are proactive, creative, and willing to share your experience and knowledge. You are entrepreneurial and have the capacity to drive issues in cooperation with our stakeholders. You can also navigate your way through ambiguous and undefined problems. Solid communication skills, both in written form and in face-to-face meetings, are important skills you should possess. You are passionate about data quality, data modelling, and scalable architectures.
You have a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. You are self-going with 15+ years of experience in software development and have a data-oriented mindset. Strong background in data analytics and AI/ML.
Skills you should have
- Proven experience as a Data Architect, Sr. Data Engineer, or similar role.
- Expertise in data modelling, data governance, metadata management, and data quality.
- The skills and experience to understand and explain mechanisms about medium/large scale software systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience in Zuul, Jenkins, and Message Bus.
- Proficient with tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Volvo Cars Engineering Data Platform.
- Strong communication, multitasking, problem-solving, and planning skills.
- Excellent networker and cross-functional team player with a can-do mindset.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Background working in Agile or DevOps-oriented environments.
