Your new job

As a Building Permit Engineer, you handle building permit cases within the scope of the Planning and Building Act. You work independently but also in close collaboration with colleagues both within your own unit and in other units. The work offers great variety, and your social skills are important as you have extensive contact both internally and externally with various stakeholders, such as applicants and representatives. Your main tasks are:

• Process cases under the Planning and Building Act in our case management system, Nova, and make decisions in these cases.
• Write service statements to the City Planning Board.
• Provide advice to applicants, involving both digital and physical meetings.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a construction engineer, architect, or similar. Experience as a case handler in public administration is an advantage.

As a Building Permit Engineer, you need to have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, the Planning and Building Ordinance, the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's building regulations, and the Administrative Procedure Act.

In the role of Building Permit Engineer, you need to feel confident in your ability to influence, explain, and handle conflicts of interest through clear and factual reasoning. You are a good listener and adapt your communication style, are clear, and ensure your messages are received correctly. You need to have good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.

You take responsibility for your tasks and have a structured approach to driving processes forward. You work efficiently even under pressure, can balance different demands, and maintain calm in difficult situations. It is important that you can bring cases to a conclusion whether you are working alone or with others. Your ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively is key to success in this role.

The City Planning Office is a department with approximately 115 employees. The department works actively to ensure the municipality offers a beautiful, safe, and long-term sustainable living environment.

The Building Permit Division consists of approximately 30 employees, of whom 6 handle building permit cases and 2 handle supervision cases. Our group works together, and we support and stand by each other.
