Do you want to complete your Practical Training for Psychologists (PTP) through work focused on children and adolescents within somatic specialist care, under the supervision and support of experienced psychologists? We welcome your application to the Psychology Clinic at Hallands Sjukhus in Halmstad. Here you will work closely with the Pediatric Clinic and see children and adolescents in need of psychological assessment, support, and treatment related to ongoing somatic illness or injury.

About the PTP Program

As a PTP psychologist, you will be part of the PTP program, which includes meetings approximately once a month. The program features lectures focusing on the role of a psychologist in various settings, as well as topics such as ethics, LGBTQ+ issues, and violence in close relationships. However, the most important aspect of the program is the exchange of experiences between the PTP psychologists. The Study Director will also maintain contact with the PTP supervisors.

The position meets the quality requirements established for PTP services, offering a complete PTP placement based on the regulations of the National Board of Health and Welfare. The position is full-time (unless otherwise agreed) for a duration of one year.

About the Work

In your daily work, you will utilize your knowledge of child development and psychological needs. The goal is to support the child or adolescent and their family in achieving the best possible quality of life, despite illness, disability, or crises arising from ill health or injury.

Duties include offering interventions such as psychoeducation, motivational interviewing, crisis support, psychological treatment, and parent support, based on a broad assessment. The work may also involve child psychiatric screening, developmental assessments, and neuropsychological investigations.

You will collaborate with medical healthcare staff and other healthcare providers, and consultative interventions may also be part of the assignment.

About the Workplace

We have a total of approximately ten psychologists at the psychology clinics in Halland. In Halmstad, you will become part of a team of six psychologists, who together with eight hospital social workers form a joint psychology and social work clinic.

We are part of the Rehabilitation Clinic, which collaborates closely with all somatic clinics in Kungsbacka, Varberg, and Halmstad. The clinic is responsible for specialized rehabilitation in both inpatient and outpatient care and includes occupational therapists, dietitians, speech therapists, and physiotherapists.

Qualifications

For the PTP program, we are looking for you who have a Swedish psychology degree, or a degree from an equivalent education abroad, along with a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare stating that PTP placement is the next step. Proof of degree must be presented before starting.

Experience from work/practice within healthcare is meritorious, especially experience from similar operations to where you are applying.
