About the role

International English School (IES) Värmdö opened in 2021 and has since built a strong school culture with clear routines, good relationships, and high expectations for both students and staff. At IES Värmdö, we work together to create a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment where all students have the right conditions to develop.

The school currently has approximately 610 students in grades Pre-K to 9 and around 65 employees. We are now looking for a secure, engaged, and responsible personal assistant/student assistant for a student in Pre-K with extensive support needs.

The position

As a personal assistant, you will work closely with a student throughout the entire school day and serve as an important support in both teaching situations and daily routines. The role involves helping the student participate in the school's activities in a safe and meaningful way, based on the student's individual prerequisites.

The work includes, among other things, support with:

• Mobility and motor activities
• Lessons and teaching situations
• Recess, transitions, and social contexts
• Meals and practical daily moments
• Communication, concentration, and participation in activities
• Physical activities both indoors and outdoors

You will work closely with the class teacher, after-school staff, student health services, guardians, and external professionals regarding the student. The role requires high presence, patience, flexibility, and very good judgment in everyday situations.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is secure, calm, and responsible
• Has a genuine commitment to supporting children with extensive support needs
• Has good collaboration skills and is receptive in interactions with students, colleagues, and guardians
• Has the ability to create structure, security, and positive relationships
• Is flexible and can adapt to the student's daily mood and needs
• Is physically present and active in working together with the student
• Has good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with physical disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental disorders (such as ADHD or ASD)
• Experience working as a personal assistant, student assistant, or in adapted activities
• Knowledge of low-arousal approaches (low-affective handling)
• Experience working in schools or preschools
• Education in pedagogy, child and youth care, healthcare, or a similar field

You need to be able to work closely with the student throughout the day and contribute to creating security while supporting the student's independence and development. The position is a fixed-term full-time (100%) employment.
