Job Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a nurse anesthetist/r nurse for our surgical department, based at our preoperative unit. On the preoperative unit, we prepare patients for surgery of all ages. Your tasks include, among other things, premedication, inserting peripheral intravenous cannulas (PIVC), and assisting anesthesiologists with the placement of nerve blocks. Here you will meet patients who need reassuring conversations and information before their surgery. You also participate in planning the surgical schedules and have conversations with patients the day before their surgery to confirm their appointment time and answer any questions they may have regarding the procedure.

You collaborate with doctors and nurses in the operating room, the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), as well as the surgical coordinators at the clinics. The preoperative service is constantly developing in collaboration with all surgical departments at Halland Hospital.

The position is during day shifts. Monday–Thursday 06:30–15:30 and Friday 06:30–12:30.

About the Workplace

The preoperative unit is a small team consisting of nurses and nursing assistants who work closely with the patient at the center.

The unit is part of the Department of Surgery and Intensive Care, which is one of the hospital's largest units with approximately 200 employees. The department includes operating rooms (11 suites), the post-anesthesia care unit, and the intensive care unit with 8 beds.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse anesthetist or registered nurse, preferably with a few years of experience. It is an advantage if you are a perioperative nurse. You should be able to plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively.

You have an easy time collaborating and are flexible in changing plans and tasks based on the patient's and the unit's needs.

To ensure good and safe communication with colleagues, patients, and other contacts, we require good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Other language skills are considered an advantage.

To succeed in the role on the preoperative unit, it is required that you are stable in your professional role but also as a person. Here you meet patients and relatives daily who have many questions before their surgeries, and you need to be their secure point. You are good at communicating with people and managing to convey important information regardless of the situation. It is important to us that you prioritize treatment and interaction highly, as you meet people with different backgrounds and conditions here. In your work, you meet many anxious children, which makes it an advantage if you have previously worked with children. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
