Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community with your colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

The DBT team is organized within the enhanced outpatient care of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is one of four teams working with more intensive and/or flexible interventions for patients with greater needs. Within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, in addition to enhanced outpatient care, there is also the assessment unit BUP Start, four treatment clinics, an eating disorder unit, and emergency care services.

The DBT team works with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for children and adolescents from the age of 13 with emotional instability and self-destructive behaviors such as self-harm and suicidality. The effectiveness of the treatment has strong research support and includes both individual psychotherapy and skills training groups for adolescents and parents.

Your Role

As a PTP Psychologist in the DBT team, you conduct assessments prior to potential treatment, hold individual counseling sessions, and lead skills training groups together with an experienced colleague. You contribute to a dialectical team collaboration. You will participate in the development of therapeutic work materials. To broaden your skills in psychological assessment work, you will, as part of the role, conduct new assessments at BUP Start. You will receive specific methodological supervision for the assessments and evaluations you conduct at BUP Start.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in Psychology

It is meritorious if you have experience with:

  • A genuine interest in DBT and experience of clinical work based on the method
  • Clinical work with children, adolescents, and their relatives
  • Leading group treatment for individuals with mental illness
  • Using experiential methods and handling group processes in clinical work

Your Competencies

We are looking for someone with personal maturity, meaning you are secure and stable in yourself. You are structured and can work both independently and in collaboration with others. You always put the patient first and are responsible and motivated in your work. You are an engaged and positive colleague with good cooperation skills. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

What We Offer

We offer a full-time position in a work environment where you, as an employee, can thrive and develop together with colleagues who are passionate about their mission and appreciate working together. You are offered regular supervision.

Start date by agreement. Before employment, extracts from suspicion and criminal records will be requested. Here you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).

Region Uppsala mobilizes all permanent staff based on the needs of the total defense. This means no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.

Before a decision on employment, checks of suspicion and criminal records will be conducted for all job seekers who, in the sought position, may come to work in psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and adolescents, or involuntary care of addicts, areas covered by optional record extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to mainly involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.
