The Business Area Own Management is responsible for the city's own Komvux (Adult Education), SFI (Swedish for Immigrants), and university college programs, giving Stockholmers the opportunity to study and participate in society and working life. Some want to learn something new, find a new career, while others want to upgrade their grades or complete their upper secondary education. Adult Education in Own Management has the mandate to expand its operations and is therefore looking for a special educator for Kista and Liljeholmen.

Your role

Komvux Kista and Komvux Liljeholmen are two newly opened adult education schools in the city's own management. The schools offer courses in SFI study path 2 and 3, as well as basic courses in Swedish as a second language, mathematics, English, social studies, and natural sciences. The position is shared between both schools and will therefore involve travel between them.

The role of the special educator is central to the schools' systematic quality work. The role requires an independent and proactive approach, as well as good collaboration skills. The special educator works to increase goal fulfillment by identifying and removing obstacles in the learning environment, as well as capturing and utilizing existing opportunities.

Your assignment as a special educator includes, among other things:

• Mapping and analyzing students' support needs and following up in collaboration with teaching teachers, special needs teachers, career counselors, and other support functions.
• Implementing support measures at the organizational, group, and individual levels after decisions by the support teams.
• Documenting support needs and planned and implemented adjustments.
• Leading the schools' systematic student health work in the support team together with the principal.
• Driving the schools' work with accessible learning environments.
• Keeping up to date with relevant research regarding special pedagogy and disseminating it to staff in the operation.
• In collaboration with teachers, work to ensure that teaching and learning are organized from an inclusive perspective.
• Work to ensure that the school's support measures are organized from a relational perspective.

Your competence and experience

Requirements for the position

• A degree in special pedagogy worth 90 higher education credits, or alternatively, completed corresponding individual courses totaling at least 90 higher education credits with a special pedagogical focus.
• Experience working as a special educator.
• Experience leading collegial learning, training staff, and collaborating with others to develop operations.

Meritorious qualifications

• Teaching certification with eligibility in SFI/Swedish as a second language.
• Experience working as a special educator within adult education and/or education in adult pedagogy.
• Experience working with students whose native language is not Swedish.
• Experience in a coordinating role.
