Our Operations

Within the Department of Plastic and Jaw Surgery, a large part of the hospital's highly specialized national and regional care is conducted, as well as the region's two national healthcare assignments, all in close collaboration between different specialties. We are an expanding operation with nearly 200 employees. Our operations are quality certified according to ISO 9001:2015 and SS-EN 15224:2017, and our profile areas are burn care, cleft lip and palate surgery, craniofacial surgery, and microsurgical reconstruction.

The care of our patients takes place in multidisciplinary teams with representatives from within and outside the department. We focus on the continuous development of our core operations and work extensively with patient flows to drive development with the patient in focus. Research and education are central to our daily work. We work strongly with team responsibility both within the physician and nursing groups. The Burn Center at Akademiska sjukhuset is one of Sweden's two burn units. Around the clock, we receive patients with severe burns to our intensive care unit and ward.

Your Role

We are now looking for doctors for several resident physician vacancies, the focus of which will be distributed after the interview based on the operation's needs. As a resident physician at the Plastic and Burn Unit at Akademiska Sjukhuset, it is fundamental that you have strong clinical and communicative skills. Your main responsibility is the inpatients, emergency patients at the clinic, and consultations at the hospital. It also occurs that you assist in major surgeries as well as minor surgeries under local anesthesia. While you work in a team with both nurses, senior colleagues, and your fellow resident physicians, you also have significant individual responsibility. We therefore place great emphasis on personal qualities and particularly value proactivity, humility, and teamwork. Since the work and areas of responsibility can vary, we also see that you possess high flexibility, work capacity, and positivity. We would like you to have at least 6 months of surgical experience from before.

What We Offer

We offer a temporary position for 6-12 months. Earliest start date is August 2026 or later, by agreement. On-call and standby duty are included in the position.
