Information about the department
The Department of Science Communication and Learning conducts research and education in language, communication, engineering education science, and strategic publishing. A central part of the operations is the Chalmers Library.
Our operational support consists of IT and system developers and administrators. We work with the development and administration of the library's tools and databases. We also handle matters such as recruitment, premises, diary management, finance, purchasing, as well as study and web administration.
We are a team with broad competence and high ambitions.
Job Description
As a system developer, you support researchers in everything from data collection and storage to publication and long-term preservation of their research data. You contribute to the development and maintenance of the systems and services relevant to this area.
You work closely with Chalmers' research infrastructure, e-Commons, and collaborate with researchers as well as colleagues within the library and operational support. The role gives you the opportunity to follow and contribute to the entire research process. Examples of tasks include:
- Working with integrations and APIs between different systems.
- Supporting researchers with questions regarding data management, metadata, and publishing.
- Contributing to the development of working methods within open science and FAIR principles.
For you, this role means you will:
- Combine technology with socially relevant research.
- Contribute to the development of open science.
- Work closely with engaged researchers and colleagues.

Permanent full-time position.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who:
- Have a technical degree from university or equivalent, preferably with a focus on system development, programming, or web technologies.
- Have experience in system development, preferably in Python and/or JavaScript.
- Have experience working with web services and APIs.
- Have knowledge of how technology supports research and information management.
It is an advantage if you have experience with:
- Working with research data, library systems, or scientific publishing.
- Metadata, standards, or open science/FAIR.
- Working in a research environment or at a higher education institution.
You don't need to know everything from the start – we value your willingness to learn and develop in the field.

You are structured and meticulous with an interest in documentation. You have pedagogical skills and are a good listener. You have strong communication skills that allow you to translate stakeholders' analyses and needs into action.
