The Workplace

Would you like to come and work at Sjöstadsskolan's fantastic adapted primary school?

Sjöstadsskolan is a bright and modern municipal primary school beautifully located near the water in Hammarby Sjöstad, a vibrant neighborhood that is also considered a natural extension of Stockholm's inner city.

The school currently has around 930 students, of whom 45 students attend our adapted primary school.

The adapted primary school at Sjöstadsskolan consists of six classes with approximately 45 students. Safety, stability, and quality education are central keywords, and we always strive for every individual student to feel seen and appreciated in a secure and creative context.

Job Description

As a teacher in the adapted primary school, you are responsible for planning your teaching, instructing your students, as well as evaluating and assessing their knowledge development. You are part of a work team where you are an important part of collegial learning to create new and in-depth knowledge. You collaborate closely with both teaching colleagues and student assistants, and you help each other to create a safe learning environment for all students.

The work also includes individualized medical care, and it is important to have broad knowledge of digital aids as well as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or sign-supported communication, as several of our students do not speak.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with a specialization in intellectual disability. It is a requirement that you have experience teaching in an adapted primary school and that you have good digital competence.

You want to and can build relationships with our students, and you constantly work to ensure that every student reaches their full potential. You are professional, have good judgment, and can set boundaries. You are naturally empathetic and use a low-affective approach in your interactions.

You have a good ability to design teaching in accordance with curricula, subject plans, and current knowledge requirements. You take responsibility for, and have insight into, the students' results and needs, and you structure and adapt your teaching so that a safe and adequate learning environment is created.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

As an employee of the City of Stockholm, you are offered a wellness allowance and a subsidized gym card for Stockholm's swimming halls.

The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thereby combating discrimination.
