NU Hospital is part of the Region of Västra Götaland and is one of Sweden's larger county hospitals. We are located at NÄL (Norra Älvsborg County Hospital) in Trollhättan and Uddevalla Hospital. The hospital's catchment area covers 280,000 inhabitants. Together, we are approximately 5,000 employees who work every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare. This will be your new workplace

The Women's Clinic's outpatient and inpatient care is consolidated at NÄL in Trollhättan. The clinic's inpatient care consists of a maternity ward with antenatal care, a postnatal care (BB) ward, and a gynecological ward including oncological care. The departments are located in shared premises and work in close collaboration. The clinic also includes several outpatient clinics, such as a general gynecology clinic, an oncological gynecology clinic, and a clinic for pregnant and postpartum women (MGN). Our maternity ward is one of the largest in Sweden, performing approximately 3,000 deliveries per year, with close collaboration with neonatal care offering intensive care from gestational week 27.

Within our clinic for pregnant and postpartum women, we have an outpatient unit featuring fetal diagnostics, early and routine ultrasounds, management of intercurrent diseases, and specialist maternal care for women with diabetes or other medical needs. This clinic also includes antenatal care, postnatal care, breastfeeding support, and the Aurora clinic. We also provide gynecological outpatient care at our gynecology clinic.

The medical team consists of a total of 35 consultants, specialists, and specialist trainee (ST) doctors. The group holds medical responsibility and works systematically to improve the quality of care provided by the Women's Clinic, ensuring that patients and their relatives feel secure. Significant focus is placed on patient safety, including the prevention of healthcare injuries.

Despite, or perhaps rather because of, the important mission, there is a high-energy atmosphere within the group. We have strong cohesion, are proud of our work, and support each other.

We have two hospital-based on-call consultants.

Your role and responsibilities

We are primarily seeking a consultant doctor with participation in the on-call roster, or alternatively, a specialist in gynecology/obstetrics with on-call competence. Opportunities for research and development work exist, as NU Hospital has its own R&D unit.

We train specialist trainee (ST) doctors and medical students. Supervision and bedside teaching are part of the job; you must find teaching and supervision stimulating.

You are a licensed physician with Swedish authorization. Personal suitability is highly valued, and we prefer candidates with academic merits.
