Clinic Description

The Eye Clinic at Uddevalla Hospital is one of the largest in the country, serving a catchment area of approximately 330,000 inhabitants. We perform over 40,000 patient visits annually, including more than 30,000 doctor consultations. Our annual procedures include approximately 3,200 cataract surgeries, 6,500 injection treatments, and 1,000 laser treatments, as well as various glaucoma, strabismus, and eyelid surgeries.

The clinic currently employs 29 doctors, including 7 residents (ST-doctors). We have a very good educational climate, a dedicated study director, and received top grades during the SPUR inspection in January 2022. All doctors are provided with their own workstation, service computer, and service mobile phone. Our goal is for all employees to feel valued and involved in the clinic's development.

The operations are divided into five process areas: Emergency/General, Children/Orthoptics, Glaucoma, Surgery, and Retina. Our premises and equipment are newly built and well-adapted to these areas. The clinic is well-equipped with four operating rooms, a minor procedure room, an injection room, six OCT devices, Pentacam, multi-spot laser, Navilas, micro-pulse laser, two SLT/YAG lasers, RetCam for infant fundus examination, and the latest generation of phaco machines on our own surgical department. We prioritize development work and new methods, placing us far ahead in regional and national comparisons.

Job Responsibilities

The position involves medical work under training and supervision for ST (Specialist Training) according to a fixed training plan in ophthalmology, covering all process areas. You will work in a team-based environment with a central medical role, alongside colleagues and other staff with many years of experience. The training includes outpatient work, laser treatments, injections, and surgery. Study time, administrative time, and supervision time are scheduled.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed physician. If you studied abroad, you must have completed your Basic Training (BT) in Sweden or plan to complete it within 2 months. We seek someone motivated by providing good care with high patient safety alongside colleagues. You are person-centered and have a professional approach towards both patients and colleagues. Personal suitability is given great importance.
