St. Lars Parish is an inner-city parish, right in the center of Linköping, with all the shops, entertainment, and high foot traffic that entails. St. Lars Church, with roots and history dating back to the early 1000s, is and wants to be a city church. The parish is a place for faith and life, with warm community between God and people, and among people.

We are now looking for a part-time caretaker for St. Lars Church who wants to become part of the St. Lars Parish community and contribute to its rich life.

About the position

As a caretaker, you will have a varied job with many points of contact. To thrive, you need to appreciate social interactions as you will collaborate with many volunteer staff, parishioners, visitors, and tourists. As a caretaker, you will also meet people in vulnerable situations. In these cases, it is important that you can maintain your calm, feel secure, and treat these people well.

In the role of caretaker, you will serve at services and church ceremonies such as baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals. Your task consists of preparing the church but also tidying up after the service has taken place. You will participate actively in different services, and your tasks may include preparing for church coffee, setting out items, and being responsible for the sound. In addition to services, you will also serve at lectures, concerts, and other events in St. Lars Church. This caretaker position also includes regular service during "Evening Open Church" on Friday evenings.

In addition, the position involves a combination of administration, practical work, and service. You will, among other things, handle bookings, furniture arrangement, and assembly of various items, as well as staff the church reception.

The position includes both independent work and teamwork. Working hours are scheduled for both evenings and weekends.

About you

We are looking for you who enjoy doing different types of tasks and have a willingness to help where needed. We would like you to have previous experience of similar tasks. You need to be able to perform both administrative and practical tasks combined with good service skills. The position involves many meetings, and to succeed in the role, you need to be good at building relationships, be empathetic, and able to communicate well with a wide variety of people. The role also includes being a good representative of the Church of Sweden.

The position requires that you have good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish. You will also meet English-speaking people, which means you also need to master English. Since you will collaborate with many different parties, it is important that you appreciate working in a group and that you can prioritize your tasks when your skills are in demand from several sides.

It is meritorious if you have an interest in technology, as you will be responsible for sound and sometimes video in St. Lars Church. It is also positive if you are historically interested, as many of our visitors come to us because of the church's unique history.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and are looking for you who are driven, flexible, have good initiative, and can handle many tasks in parallel.
