The Culture and Leisure Office is responsible for a vibrant cultural and sports life, as well as a diverse range of leisure activities in Södertälje Municipality. The office manages libraries, a cultural school, an art hall, Youth Leisure, sports facilities, Torekällberg, and outdoor life activities.

The libraries in Södertälje consist of two units: Area Libraries (Hovsjö Library), neighborhood libraries in Enhörna, Järna, Hölö, and Mölnbo, and the Book Bus.

For us, the libraries are a place for literature and culture, and should serve as an open and safe meeting place for all citizens.

Your Responsibilities

You will work at Hovsjö Library together with a librarian and a cultural pedagogue. Together, you will design activities for children, young people, and adults. The position is primarily focused on activities for adults.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Promoting reading.
• Monitoring the external environment and collaborating with other actors.
• Subject monitoring, media planning, and purchasing.
• Staffing and other routine librarian duties.

Hovsjö Library is currently open five days a week, Monday–Friday. Starting in the autumn, the library will also be open on Saturdays.

Requirements:

• A degree in Library and Information Science or another relevant higher education qualification that the employer deems equivalent.

Merits:

• Several years of experience working in public libraries.
• A genuine interest in promoting reading and interacting with people.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English; additional languages are a plus.
• Good IT skills.
• Experience working with a diversity perspective.

The workplace is located in Hovsjö, which is easily accessible by municipal transport.

The position is a fixed-term contract (100%) from August 27, 2026, to January 20, 2027, with the possibility of extension.
