The Department of Culture and Leisure works to promote cultural and leisure activities in the municipality. We are a politically directed service organization where the residents are our clients. Sigtuna's libraries are located in four places in the municipality: Märsta, Sigtuna, Valsta, and Rosersberg. The position will be based at the newly built Mimer Cultural House in Valsta, a lively and activating meeting place with generous opening hours where actors and operations from across the municipality work together for a meaningful leisure time and equal living conditions for all our residents!

Job Description

As a librarian specializing in youth services, you actively work to reach young people on their terms, with their interests, needs, and perspectives in focus. You catch ideas, trends, and expressions from the target group and translate them into operations, activities, and new ways of working, both in the physical and digital space.

You contribute to developing the library as a safe, inspiring, and accessible meeting place where young people feel welcome, included, and part of the community. The role is characterized by a warm, curious, and relationship-building approach where you build trust and long-term relationships with young people.

In the role of librarian specializing in youth services, you will among other things:

Initiate, plan, and implement reading promotion, language development, and creative activities for young people
Build relationships and collaborate with schools, youth clubs, associations, and other operations that meet young people
Contribute ideas and working methods that contribute to the development of the library's youth operations and the library as a meeting place
Participate in media management and work with the library's media for young people
Work at the library's information desks where you provide service, support, and guidance to visitors

Qualifications

Has an academic education in library and information science or other education and/or work experience that the employer considers equivalent
Has good knowledge of youth literature, reading promotion work, young people's language development, and young people's changing media habits
Has experience with or a great interest in working with young people and relationship-building operations, and is confident in meeting people with different experiences and prerequisites
Is pedagogical, creative, and proactive, and has good communication skills and a service-oriented approach
Has good collaboration skills and enjoys collaborating with different operations and associations

It is meritorious if you have experience from previous work at a library, and if you speak one or more languages in addition to Swedish and English.
