The Department of Culture and Leisure works to promote cultural and leisure activities in the municipality. We are a politically directed service organization where the residents are our clients. Sigtuna's libraries are located in four places in the municipality: Märsta, Sigtuna, Valsta, and Rosersberg. The position will be based in the newly built Culture House Mimer in Valsta, a lively and activating meeting place with generous opening hours where actors and operations from across the municipality work together for a meaningful leisure time and equal living conditions for all our residents!

Sigtuna Municipality's library is now looking for an engaged librarian with a focus on children for the newly opened Culture House Mimer in Valsta!

Job Responsibilities

As a librarian with a focus on children, you work to spark a love of reading, curiosity, and joy of creation in children and their parents. You contribute to developing the library's children's activities and help ensure that the library is a safe, inspiring, and accessible meeting place for children and families.

In this role, it is important that your approach is characterized by a warm, curious, and pedagogical attitude. Sigtuna Municipality's library strives to take care of children's interests and perspectives, and we want to continue developing work on children's participation and influence in the activities.

The work involves both independent responsibility and close collaboration with colleagues, preschools, schools, as well as other actors and associations in the municipality. As a librarian with a focus on children, you will among other things:

• Initiate, plan, and conduct reading-promoting, language-developing, and creative activities for children and families.
• Build relationships and collaborate with preschools, schools, and other operations that meet children and young people.
• Contribute ideas and methods that contribute to the development of the library's children's activities and the library as a meeting place.
• Participate in media management and work with the library's children's media.
• Work at the library's information desks where you provide service, support, and guidance to visitors.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• Have an academic education in library and information science or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
• Have good knowledge of children's literature, reading promotion work, children's language development, and children's changing media habits.
• Are confident in meeting people with different experiences and prerequisites, and have the ability to create trust and engagement in your relationship building with both children and parents.
• Are pedagogical, creative, and proactive, and have good communication skills and a service-oriented approach.
• Have good collaboration skills and enjoy collaborating with different operations and associations.

It is an advantage if you speak one or more languages in addition to Swedish and English.
