Sigtuna Municipality Library is now seeking an engaged librarian with a pedagogical focus on adults for the newly opened Culture House Mimer in Valsta!

About the Culture and Leisure Administration

The Culture and Leisure Administration works to promote culture and leisure activities in the municipality. We are a politically directed service organization where the residents are our clients. Together, we find new ideas and solutions that contribute to the residents' quality of life, sustainability, health, integration, and reduced social exclusion.

Sigtuna's libraries are located in four places in the municipality: Märsta, Sigtuna, Valsta, and Rosersberg. The position will be based at the newly built Culture House Mimer in Valsta, a lively and activating meeting place with generous opening hours where actors and operations from across the municipality work together for a meaningful leisure time and equal living conditions for all our residents!

Responsibilities

As a librarian with a pedagogical focus on adults, you work to lower barriers to the library, as well as strengthen language, participation, and lifelong learning among the library's visitors. You meet people with different experiences and prerequisites and work especially closely with people who are new to Sweden, people with limited digital or linguistic experience, and senior groups.

The role involves planning and implementing activities that promote language development, reading, civic orientation, and social community. The role entails relationship-building and pedagogical work where you build trust and create inclusive contexts together with visitors and partners.

The work takes place in close collaboration with, among others, Swedish for Immigrants (SFI), adult education, associations, senior activities, as well as other actors within the municipality and civil society.

In the role of librarian with a pedagogical focus on adults, you will among other things:

• Initiate, plan, and implement reading-promoting, language-developing, and creative activities for children and families
• Build relationships and collaborate with preschools, schools, and other operations that meet children and young people
• Contribute ideas and working methods that contribute to the development of the library's children's activities and the library as a meeting place
• Participate in media management and work with the library's children's media
• Work at the library's information desks where you provide service, support, and guidance to visitors. Information shifts, evening, and weekend duty are included, as well as staffing at the municipality's other libraries may occur

Qualifications

• Has an academic education in library and information science or other education that the employer considers equivalent
• Has an understanding of the needs and challenges that may exist among people who are new to Sweden or among senior groups
• Has experience or a strong interest in working with adult learning, language, and inclusion, and is confident in meeting people with different experiences, languages, and prerequisites
• Is pedagogical, relationship-building, and responsive, and has good communication skills and a service-oriented approach
• Has good collaboration skills and enjoys collaborating with different operations and associations

It is meritorious if you have experience of previous work with a pedagogical focus at a library, and if you speak one or more languages in addition to Swedish and English.
