Sigtuna Municipality Library is now looking for an engaged Librarian Pedagogue with a focus on children for the newly opened Culture House Mimer in Valsta!

The Department of Culture and Leisure works to promote cultural and leisure activities in the municipality. We are a politically directed service organization where the residents are our clients. Together, we find new ideas and solutions that contribute to the residents' quality of life, sustainability, health, integration, and reduced social exclusion.

Sigtuna's libraries are located in four places in the municipality: Märsta, Sigtuna, Valsta, and Rosersberg. The position will be based at the newly built Culture House Mimer in Valsta, a lively and activating meeting place with generous opening hours where actors and operations from across the municipality work together for a meaningful leisure time and equal living conditions for all our residents!

Job Responsibilities

As a Librarian Pedagogue with a focus on children, you work to spark a love for reading and create inspiring and accessible activities for children and families. Through literature, storytelling, and creative activities, you contribute to children's language development, curiosity, and participation. You work closely with children of different ages and meet families with different experiences and backgrounds. In the role, you work outwardly, proactively, and curiously, which makes it important that you as a person are secure, relationship-building, and pedagogical, as well as having the ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where children feel seen and involved. The professional role combines pedagogical work with library duties.

The work involves independent work, where you initiate and collaborate with various people, networks, colleagues, preschools, schools, associations, and other actors in the municipality.

In the role of Librarian Pedagogue, you will among other things:

• Initiate, plan, and implement reading-promoting, language-developing, and creative activities for children and families
• Build relationships and collaborate with preschools, schools, and other operations that meet children and young people
• Contribute ideas and working methods that contribute to the development of the library's children's activities and the library as a meeting place
• Participate in media management and work with the library's children's media
• Work at the library's information desks where you provide service, support, and guidance to visitors. Information shifts, evening, and weekend work are included, as well as staffing at the municipality's other libraries may occur

Qualifications

• Has an academic education in pedagogy, library and information science, or other education and/or work experience that the employer considers equivalent
• Has experience with or a strong interest in working with children and pedagogical activities
• Has good knowledge of children's literature, reading promotion work, children's language development, and children's changing media habits
• Is secure in meeting people with different experiences and prerequisites, and has the ability to create trust and engagement in your relationship building with both children and parents
• Is pedagogical, creative, and proactive, and has good communication skills and a service-oriented approach to work
• Has good collaboration skills and enjoys collaborating with various operations and associations

It is meritorious if you have experience of previous work at a library, driving a norm-conscious and inclusive work with children, and if you speak one or more languages in addition to Swedish and English.
