Värmdö is the meeting place of the archipelago, combining the quiet beauty of nature with a more urban lifestyle. Our mission is not just one but many: schools, properties, social services, harbors, healthcare, libraries, elderly care, and many more. We work to ensure that all residents of Värmdö can live a rich and free life. We want to be the ones who make the dream of a vibrant, secure environment for home, family, and business possible.
To succeed fully, we need diverse competencies and must work together to build a common and trust-based work culture, built on brave, responsible employees who understand the needs and wishes of the residents.
To the Mother Tongue Unit, Värmdö Municipality, we are looking for a Study Counselor in Kurdish (Sorani).
Here, you will work with something of the greatest value: helping our children and young people grow. You will have the opportunity to join a dynamic municipality in development and contribute your knowledge and experience to our children and young people attending school in Värmdö.
In the role of Study Counselor at Värmdö Municipality, the duties include study counseling in Kurdish (Sorani) for a student at Ösbyskolan.
We are looking for you who have higher education and experience in teaching or experience working with children and young people. Pedagogical education is an advantage.
You must be able to work seamlessly with students who have Kurdish (Sorani) as their mother tongue. You should also have good subject knowledge in several of the school's subjects. You need to be able to determine to what extent the mother tongue should be used in counseling and how subject-specific Swedish should be processed. You should also have a good understanding of the curriculum's value base and view of knowledge and be able to relate to this.
You must have good knowledge of the Swedish language to fulfill the assignment.
We place great importance on your ability to cooperate and communicate with students, colleagues, and, if necessary, guardians. Computer proficiency is a requirement and a prerequisite for fulfilling the assignment. Experience with the school portal Vklass is an advantage.
We expect you to be confident in your leadership role, to work with low-affective methods, and to create a counseling situation where students are made active participants. That you have a positive view of students, based on the belief that students can and want to learn, and that you value differences. It is also important that you actively participate in the work team's activities and are willing to contribute your experience and competence to the team.
For this position, presenting a valid extract from the police criminal record is a prerequisite for employment.
Study counseling for this student is coordinated by the Mother Tongue Unit, but the teaching takes place on-site at Ösbyskolan. The position covers approximately 20% employment and is valid for the autumn term 2026.
The position can be filled provided it is not taken due to redundancy.
Värmdö Municipality offers a wellness allowance, an SL card against net salary deduction, and holiday exchange for extra days off. We also actively work to create health-promoting workplaces with a good work environment and apply smoke-free working hours.
We strive for an equal gender distribution and see diversity as a strength, welcoming applicants from various backgrounds.
