Pelagia Nature & Environment AB is now looking for a biologist for our benthic fauna laboratory.

About the position

We are looking for you who want to work practically with biological analyses of aquatic environments, with a particular focus on benthic fauna. The position is primarily lab-based, but may also involve some fieldwork and data processing.

The duties include, among other things:

• Sorting and handling of benthic fauna samples from freshwater, brackish, and marine environments
• Identification and classification of organisms (taxonomic work)
• Sample handling and documentation
• Processing and analysis of biological and ecological data
• Contributing to reporting and simpler summaries

Qualifications – we are looking for you who:

• Have an academic degree in biology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or similar (BSc or MSc)
• Have an interest in or experience with biological analyses, especially benthic fauna
• Have experience working with environmental data or ecological analyses
• Have experience working with environmental monitoring of lakes, watercourses, or coastal waters

It is meritorious if you have experience with:

• Laboratory work, including microscopy, species identification, and taxonomic analyses
• Water quality investigations, for example ecological status classification according to the EU Water Framework Directive
• Fieldwork
