We are looking for two project assistants to work with soil ecological research at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science at Umeå University from September 1 to November 30, 2026, or as agreed. The application deadline is June 23, 2026. We welcome your application!

Responsibilities

The project assistants will assist the research group with the processing and analysis of soil samples. The work includes the following:

  • Sorting of soil samples
  • Weighing and pH measurements
  • Preparation of chemicals and nutrient solutions
  • Preparation of samples prior to analysis
  • General maintenance of the laboratory

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have completed at least 120 higher education credits within a bachelor's program in biology, earth sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, or similar. You should have previous experience working with environmental samples (soil, plants, or water) in a laboratory setting, as well as the ability to follow written laboratory protocols. You also need to have good proficiency in Swedish (both spoken and written) and good proficiency in spoken English.

Intermittent Employment

An intermittent employment with a framework agreement means that you may be offered scheduled employment opportunities during a framework period of up to 12 months. The employment opportunities are time-limited with support from the Employment Protection Act (LAS) Section 5, Paragraph 1. Being available in this way means that you can accept or decline each opportunity presented to you, and a new employment relationship begins with each individual instance you work. In practice, this means you have an hourly employment.
