Axis Communications is looking for a Component Engineer who wants to combine technology, analysis, and risk management in an international environment. Here you will have a central role with many contact points and great opportunities for development.
About the role
In the role of Component Engineer at Axis Communications, you are responsible for ensuring the quality, availability, and long-term sustainability of electronic components. You act as a key link between R&D, sourcing, and manufacturing, working with data analysis, risk assessments, and strategic component selection to optimize the company's Bill of Materials and sourcing strategies.
This role suits you if you thrive in a coordinating and analytical engineering position with many contact points, where structure, problem-solving, and long-term thinking are central.
You will be employed by Academic Work and work on assignment for Axis Communications during the first 6 months. The ambition is then for you to be directly hired by the client, provided all parties are satisfied with the collaboration.

Responsibilities
As a Component Engineer, you are responsible for strategic component selection, analysis, and qualification of electronic components, as well as proactive risk management. You ensure that the right components are available and optimize our Bill of Materials through continuous review and collaboration.
- Responsible for the selection, analysis, qualification, and approval of electronic components
- Work with documentation and component management in relevant IT and PLM systems
- Manage and analyze PCN and PDN processes related to component changes and phase-outs
- Work proactively with risk assessments to ensure component availability and long-term sourcing
- Identify alternative components and suppliers to reduce risks and optimize costs
- Participate in Engineering Change processes and updates to the Bill of Materials
- Collaborate closely with product development regarding component selection and multiple-source strategies
- Work cross-functionally with sourcing, quality, and sustainability issues in various commodity teams
We are looking for someone who
- Has advanced knowledge in data analysis and enjoys working structured with large information flows
- Has good knowledge of PLM systems and component management
- Has experience working with Bill of Materials and technical documentation
- Has a good understanding of the electronics industry, its market dynamics, and cost drivers
- Has experience with proactive risk management and analysis related to component availability
- Communicates fluently in English, both orally and in writing
- Has good collaboration and communication skills
- Has advanced knowledge in electrical engineering or a corresponding technical field
It is an advantage if you have
- Knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
- Experience with PCN and PDN processes
- Experience working with alternative components and multiple sourcing strategies
- Experience with component management and sourcing within the electronics industry
