In Kumla Municipality's meal service, approximately 70 chefs and assistants work in 20 kitchens across schools, preschools, and elderly care facilities. Every day, we prepare approximately 4,500 portions using high-quality ingredients, cooked seasonally in a craft-like manner. RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will work together with us to achieve our overarching goal of ensuring good food ends up in stomachs and guests are satisfied with their meal experience.

As a Kitchen Assistant with us, you will have a varied job where you are primarily responsible for the cold kitchen and the salad selection. You will also perform simple cooking tasks such as boiling potatoes, frying fish, making cold sauces, or baking. Your responsibilities also include:

• Planning the salad selection based on the season
• Orders and purchases
• Supporting chefs in cooking
• Staffing the serving counter and being able to present food and answer questions about it
• Good service and professional interaction
• Follow-up of HACCP and self-control programs.

As well as any other common kitchen tasks such as dishwashing, cleaning, and receiving goods.

For us, it is important to help each other when needed, and it may happen that we need to go and help out in a kitchen other than our regular one.

QUALIFICATIONS

To work as a Kitchen Assistant with us, you must have at least a high school education, preferably within hospitality and tourism or food science. Alternatively, you must have worked in a restaurant or large-scale kitchen and thereby acquired the basic knowledge and skills required to work in a restaurant kitchen.

We also believe that you love good food and enjoy developing yourself in the kitchen and your cooking, while being service-oriented and putting guests first. You are likely good at staying calm even in stressful situations and have the ability to step up when needed. Through good communication and teamwork, you contribute to a pleasant atmosphere at work where things get done. You need to be proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written, as you will often read and write instructions regarding menus, recipes, self-control, and special diets. Since the work is physically demanding, it is important that you have good health, mobility, and basic physical fitness.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

Since the position requires you to be able to work in all kitchens in the municipality, you must have a driver's license and access to a car or other means of transport to get to different kitchens in the municipality.
