Workplace Description

The Department of Immunotechnology at Lund University conducts cutting-edge research in the life sciences, with a particular focus on immuno-oncology, biomarkers, and allergy-related conditions. The department is located in the Medicon Village area, which brings together academic research, industry, and the public sector with a special focus on life sciences, characterized by a collaborative and innovation-driven environment.

The department boasts several high-class infrastructures, including platforms for multiplex flow cytometry and cell sorting, antibody development, spatial omics, mass spectrometry, as well as expertise in bioinformatics via NBIS (National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden). By utilizing advanced technology to solve complex questions in biomedicine, our department has established itself as a leader in several research areas and contributed to successful spin-off companies – many based in Medicon Village.

Responsibilities and Duties

You will join a translational research group studying the tumor microenvironment, with a special focus on lymphoma. You will be responsible for practically performing laboratory tasks such as staining of tumor tissue and molecular profiling (protein, RNA, DNA) of patient samples. The duties also include analysis of generated data, such as image analysis and bioinformatics workflows. The project focuses on identifying and further developing potential new therapeutic and prognostic markers.

Personal qualities such as drive, interest in research, attention to detail, and good communication and collaboration skills are of particular importance.

Qualifications

Requirements for employment:

  • Master's degree in biotechnology, cell biology, molecular biology, or equivalent.
  • Practical experience in tissue staining.
  • Practical experience in bioinformatics, such as applying R scripts.
  • Excellent skills and abilities in English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Merits:

  • Practical experience in handling tissue and/or human cells.
  • Practical experience working with protein and/or RNA-related laboratory workflows.
  • Practical experience in staining tissue for multiplex immunofluorescence-mediated image analysis.
  • Experience working with QuPath.
  • Experience working with data analysis of patient material and statistical evaluation.
  • Knowledge of lymphoma biology, cancer biology, and/or immunology.

Personal qualities such as drive, interest in research, attention to detail, and good communication and collaboration skills are of particular importance.

Other Information

The position is a fixed-term appointment (SÄVA) at 100% for 11 months, with a start date of August 1, 2026, or by agreement, but no later than August 30.
