Do you want to help build a school from the ground up and contribute to creating the best possible conditions for student learning? Do you have experience in special educational needs work and a strong commitment to accessible learning environments?
Ektorp School is looking for a special needs teacher who wants to contribute their skills and be an active part of the school's development work. Apply for the position today!
Your Role
In the role of a special needs teacher, you work with students in grades 6-9 who are in need of special support in language, reading, writing, and mathematics development. You teach and support students through individualized support measures in the classroom, in small groups, and individually. You identify and analyze students' needs through mapping and screenings, and highlight any barriers in the learning environment. Based on this, you plan, implement, and evaluate teaching and support measures in accordance with the curriculum and the School Act.
An important part of the role is to mentor and support colleagues on special educational matters, focusing on extra adjustments and inclusive working methods. You work actively to develop accessible learning environments, keep up with new findings and research within special education, and contribute your expertise to the school's pedagogical development work.
The role also includes documenting and following up on students' development, drawing up action plans and intervention programs, conducting investigations regarding special support, and applying for additional funding if necessary. You will become part of the student health team and the principal's area special needs teacher team. You collaborate closely with school leadership and other professions to create the best possible conditions for students' learning. If necessary, you participate in meetings with students and guardians to inform and discuss selected measures. Together with colleagues, students, and guardians, you create good conditions for students' development and goal achievement through targeted support measures, adjustments, and safe, trusting relationships.
Your Experience
For this position, you are required to have:
- A teaching license with eligibility to teach in grades 6-9.
- A special needs teacher degree with specialization in language, writing, and reading development or mathematics development.
- Experience working as a special needs teacher in primary and lower secondary school.
- Knowledge and experience in mapping needs and documenting support measures, such as pedagogical investigations and intervention programs.
- Good knowledge and experience in supporting students with dyslexia.
- Good knowledge and experience in supporting students with neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF).
- Good digital competence with experience working with digital pedagogical tools.
- Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
It is meritorious if you also have:
- Experience in mentoring teachers.
Is this you?
We are looking for you who are an engaged and driven special needs teacher with a strong desire to help build and develop the future Ektorp School. To succeed in the role, you need both the interest and ability to collaborate, communicate, and build good relationships with students, guardians, school leadership, and external contacts. You are confident in your leadership, clear in your communication, and have the ability to lead both students and colleagues in various situations. You are self-motivated and take responsibility for planning, implementing, and following up on your work in an efficient manner. Furthermore, you are flexible and adapt easily to the needs of the operation, where the work may vary between student-facing measures and administrative tasks.
You have good pedagogical insight and a holistic perspective on student learning. With an understanding that every student has unique conditions and needs, you adapt methods and working approaches to provide the right support. You are attentive to what is happening in the operation and actively contribute to its development. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
