The Lycée Français Saint-Louis Foundation is an international school following the French curriculum under an agreement with AEFE (Agence pour l’enseignement Français à l’étranger). The school, with approximately 700 students aged 6 to 19, is located in the beautiful nature of Stora Essingen. In this stimulating multicultural environment, students from about 40 nations and 170 staff members work together, with language as the connecting link. The foundation also includes a Swedish preschool with a French profile, hosting around 100 children. Since 2022, LFSL has also organized an after-school care program for students in grades CP-CM1 (ages 6–9).

Starting from the 2026 school year, a position as a Literature Teacher is available. The working language is French.

Job Responsibilities and Required Qualifications:

Under the direction of the Head of School/Principal or their deputy, the literature teacher instructs, educates, shapes, and monitors students from middle school to high school in the various learning cycles of modern or classical literature, in accordance with the curriculum and the principles of the French national education system. The teacher raises students' awareness of literature and the French language and eventually takes responsibility for teaching humanities-literature and philosophy. The teacher helps students express themselves, develop critical thinking, and enhance their creative ability to form their own viewpoints through various tasks.

The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing and implementing teaching within the framework of French national curricula. The language of instruction is French.
  • Contributing to the acquisition of skills, including abilities, attitudes, and knowledge.
  • Designing and implementing methods for student learning, as well as conducting assessments in middle and high school.
  • Individual follow-up and involvement in students' learning processes.
  • In the role of lead teacher, actively participate in career guidance processes and the education of future citizens through health guidance, future planning guidance, civic guidance, artistic, and cultural education.
  • Participation in school activities and the implementation of school projects.
  • Planning of annual activities.
  • Cultural awareness of Swedish culture and collaboration with the French Institute.
  • Communication and publicity regarding cultural activities, especially on the LFSL website.

  • Design and implement teaching adapted to the diversity of target groups.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Evaluate learning outcomes.
  • Use digital tools in pedagogical teaching.
  • Ensure safety in operations.
  • Lead a class and encourage student interest and participation.

Languages:

Fluency in French, which is the language of instruction, and basic knowledge of English are required. Knowledge of Swedish is an asset.

Knowledge:

  • Teaching activities and programs taught.
  • Basic pedagogy in literature.
  • Concepts related to the didactics of humanities.
  • The French education system, issues addressed, and official texts related to the subject.
  • Organization and functioning of a school approved by the French Ministry of Education and the legal regulations applicable.
  • Learning processes and mechanisms.
  • Assessment methods.
  • Group and conflict management.
  • Psychology, sociology, and development of children and adolescents.
  • EBEP (students with special needs).

Educational Requirements:

Baccalaureate + at least 3 years of study with French as the language of instruction (modern languages or classical languages).

Teaching certification.

Desired professional experience at the primary or secondary level at a French institution or within the French overseas education network.

Contract:

The position is a permanent full-time role with a 6-month probationary period, under a local agreement with holiday pay, starting in mid-August 2026.
