The Lycée Français Saint-Louis Foundation is an international school following the French national curriculum under an agreement with AEFE (Agence pour l’enseignement Français à l’étranger). The school, with approximately 700 students aged 6 to 19, is located in the beautiful natural surroundings of Stora Essingen. In this stimulating multicultural environment, students from around 40 nations and 170 staff members work together, with language as the connecting link. The foundation also includes a Swedish preschool with a French profile, catering to approximately 100 children. Since 2022, LFSL has also organized an after-school care program for students in grades CP-CM1 (ages 6–9).
Lycée Français Saint Louis in Stockholm is seeking a French-speaking mathematics teacher with the possibility of a permanent local contract with holiday service, starting for the academic year 2026-2027.
Job Responsibilities
Mathematics Teaching
Instructing, training, and supporting students from middle school to high school in the various learning cycles of mathematics. Teaching the subject Digital Sciences and Technology (SNT) at the high school level is also possible.
The activities include but are not limited to:
Teaching:
- Designing and implementing teaching within the framework of the French national curriculum. The language of instruction is French.
- Contributing to the acquisition of skills, including abilities, attitudes, and knowledge.
- Designing and implementing methods and sequences for student learning.
- Individual follow-up and engagement in students' learning processes.
- Participation in school activities (including parent-teacher meetings and class councils) and the implementation of school projects.
- Planning annual educational activities for the groups of students under your care.
- In the role of lead teacher, actively participating in career guidance processes and the education of future citizens through health guidance, future planning guidance, civic guidance, artistic, and cultural education.
- Depending on qualifications and skills assessed by LFSL, participation in training programs organized by Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Étranger, such as Professeur À Professionnaliser.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree + at least 3 years of study in mathematics or engineering; a university degree at the Bac+5 level is an advantage.
- Teaching certification desired (CAPES, Agrégation, Teaching Certificate, or equivalent).
- Desirable professional experience from a school with a French curriculum and students aged 11-18.
- Experience in a French lycée abroad is desirable.
Reporting Line or Functional Link
Reports to the Deputy Headteacher.
Skills:
- Design and implement teaching or training adapted to the diversity of the target group.
- Work as part of a team.
- Assess students' acquired knowledge.
- Use digital tools in teaching.
- Ensure safety in operations.
- Lead a class and encourage student interest and participation.
- Structure learning sequences from a didactic and pedagogical perspective in line with educational plans and current curricula.
Knowledge:
- Teaching methods.
- Concepts within mathematics didactics.
- The French education system, its challenges, official documents related to the subject.
- Organization and operation of the school and applicable legal regulations.
- Learning processes and mechanisms.
- Assessment methods, especially for the final study path.
- Group and conflict management.
- Psychology, sociology, and development of children and adolescents.
- Methods for pedagogical differentiation and care for students with special needs (EBEP).
- Support for students with special needs using IT technology.
- Training initiatives in digital competence and the PIX platform.
Language Skills:
Excellent knowledge of French is required as the working language is French; knowledge of English and Swedish is a plus.
Contract and Application:
Permanent full-time position starting with a 6-month probationary period with holiday service. Employment rate between 60-90%.
