The Role of Attending Physician/Specialist Physician

You will become part of a very friendly medical group at NOC (Neuro-Orthopedic Center) consisting of five attending physicians and two specialist physicians. You will work with the investigation, treatment, and follow-up of spinal diseases, conditions, and injuries requiring highly specialized care. You will also work with development and education in the field. Investigation and management of acute orthopedic conditions and injuries in collaboration with the entire Orthopedic Clinic is also part of the role.

We at NOC have a strong focus on education. Every operation is a learning opportunity, so we prioritize operating together. We regularly participate in Scandinavian and European spine meetings and courses.

Your Future Workplace

The Orthopedic Clinic at Länssjukhuset Ryhov is the largest orthopedic clinic in Region Jönköping County. We offer treatment, care, and rehabilitation for orthopedic diseases and injuries. The clinic is divided into general orthopedics, spine surgery (Neuro-Orthopedic Center, NOC), and BORC (Pediatric Orthopedic Center). Approximately 150 people work at the clinic, of whom about 45 are orthopedic physicians. The Orthopedic Clinic has two inpatient care units: one for patients with acute orthopedic injuries and diseases, and one for patients with planned surgeries of the musculoskeletal system, spine, and neck. Pediatric orthopedic patients are cared for at the pediatric clinic's ward.

The Neuro-Orthopedic Center works with highly specialized cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgery within the catchment area of Region Jönköping County. The most common types of operations are decompressions, disc herniations in both the cervical and lumbar spine, as well as fractures, infections, and some tumor treatments.

Your Profile

We are now looking for a specialist-competent spine surgeon with at least 4 years of experience in the field. We prefer that you are an attending physician or specialist physician in orthopedics with spine experience, but we also welcome you if you are a neurosurgeon with an interest in operating exclusively in the spine.

NOC handles all spine issues related to degenerative diseases, fractures, infections, and some tumors, except for specific neurosurgical diseases or tumor treatments requiring higher competence. These are referred to US Linköping. We assess approximately 2,000 patients per year at the clinic and perform around 400 procedures per year.
