Your role

We are looking for someone who wants to work towards a sustainable supply of heating and cooling for Gothenburg. As an Environmental Engineer, you will work both operationally and strategically in close connection with the operation of our district heating and cooling facilities as well as our pipe network.

During the first year, a major focus will be on pipeline projects. Thereafter, the needs may shift, and the focus may lie on other parts of the business, depending on competence and the needs of the business.

Within the pipeline projects, you will work with a range of issues typical for excavation projects, such as contaminated land, mass and waste management, water activities, habitat protection, and noise. You may also handle issues related to permit and notification requirements for district heating and cooling facilities, involving various types of follow-up and contact with environmental authorities.

You will participate in investigations, risk analyses, and projects, collaborating closely with your colleagues in the unit and other functions within the organization to develop and strengthen our joint environmental work and contribute to a robust energy supply.

Your team

You will become part of a knowledgeable and collaborative team of 12 people who work with environmental compliance and develop sustainable solutions within Gothenburg Energy's district heating and cooling operations. You will primarily work with two other people focused on pipeline projects, where you will provide specialist support for our project managers, maintain contacts with authorities, and collaborate with consultants.

Your qualifications

We are looking for someone with a higher education in natural sciences or engineering, with an environmental focus, and with education or experience in environmental legislation. You have experience working with, or education in, contaminated areas.

We would also appreciate if you have experience of contacts with or from work at environmental authorities, and experience in working with water activities, habitat protection, mass and waste management, and noise issues. It is also positive if you have experience of environmental issues within industrial operations, especially energy production or combustion operations, and if you have knowledge in some of the following areas: chemical issues, permits, notifications, and dispensations according to the Environmental Code, and environmental risk analyses.

Car travel in the service occurs, so you need to have a B driver's license.

To thrive in the role, we see that you are proactive, flexible, and collaborative with the ability to see the big picture and work systematically. You express yourself effortlessly in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have good communication skills.
