Job Description

The Rural Affairs Division has the main task of promoting sustainable, efficient, and environmentally adapted agriculture, sustainable rural development, fisheries development, as well as veterinary and animal welfare issues.

Animal Welfare Inspectors belong to the Veterinary and Animal Welfare Unit. Our vision is healthy and well-being animals for safe food.

The main tasks of the position are:

• Inspection of animal welfare regarding food-producing animals and companion animals. All animal species covered by the Animal Welfare Act can be inspected, and several types of inspections are carried out.
• Administrative work, such as registering case documents, handling cases administratively, and writing inspection reports.
• Processing decisions according to the Animal Welfare Act.
• Processing incoming cases according to the Act on Supervision of Dogs and Cats.

The work is performed both independently and as part of a team. To thrive in the job, high social competence with strong collaboration skills and flexibility is required.

Location: Uddevalla. Possibility to work partially remotely exists.

Travel is included in the position. In addition to inspection work, we strive to use buses and trains as much as possible when traveling.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Degree from the Ethology and Animal Welfare Programme, degree from the Agronomy Programme with a focus on animals, or other education and/or work experience that the employer deems suitable.
• Good knowledge of animal husbandry within primary production.
• Knowledge and ability to independently plan and conduct inspections both administratively and in the field.
• Knowledge and ability to independently write inspection reports and decisions and receive feedback on these.
• Knowledge and ability to handle difficult conversations and communicate uncomfortable decisions.
• Good ability to express yourself clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Category B driver's license.

Meritorious:

• Practical work experience (employed/internship during education) with production animals or companion animals in a larger operation for at least 6 months.
• Worked as an animal welfare inspector.
• Good knowledge of and application of the Administrative Procedure Act.
• Good knowledge of and application of animal welfare legislation.
• Experience of case processing at an authority.
• Experience of supervisory activities.
