A Day in the Job

Do you want to help create a safe, motivating, and developmental school environment for young people? Do you have a big heart for relationship-building work and a strong desire to support students both pedagogically and socially? Then you might be the study coach we are looking for!

Torekällgymnasiet is Södertälje's municipal upper secondary school, offering introduction programs and national vocational preparatory programs. We will have approximately 300 students for the autumn term, and because we are a small school, it is easy to get to know all the students and staff. Together with the students, we work on various exciting value-creating projects.

Our vocational and introduction programs are growing in size, and we are constantly working to develop teaching and the school to meet all students' needs and create motivation and understanding for the profession students will enter after their education. Together with your colleagues in the teaching group and the student health team, you will be involved in finding more ways for students to clearly see a red thread leading to the goal.

As a study coach, you act as a mentor for the students and are an important part of the school's student health team. Central parts of your assignment are to build safe and positive relationships with the students and to support them in taking responsibility and their social development. This also involves promoting students' attendance, motivation, and participation through active and preventive student health work using various methods. You are also part of a team of teachers, where you contribute to result analysis and adaptation of methods for accessible teaching based on your competence and perspective. You regularly follow up on students' study situations, administer absence management, conduct screenings, and analyze the effect of interventions. Twice per academic year, you conduct student-led development conferences and work continuously to support and develop students' study techniques, planning, and goal setting.

In your role as a study coach, you will work closely with teachers, special needs educators, guardians, and other staff to create an accessible learning environment.

Who are you?

Requirements:

• You need to have a pedagogical or social education/degree as a foundation, such as teacher, social worker, behavioral scientist, or social pedagogue.
• You need to have experience from working in a school or experience of collaborating with schools (in another professional role).
• You need to have experience in administrative work.
• You need to have education in or documented experience of low-affective handling (low-arousal approach).

Merits:

• Experience working with student health issues, attendance-promoting work, or supervision.
• Experience from working at an upper secondary school.

Personal qualities:

You are flexible, low-affective, and have a relational approach. You see students' ability to develop as something natural. You have good skills in documenting, analyzing, and following up on the interventions made. You are meticulous, structured, and confident in working both independently and in a team. You also have good digital competence and are accustomed to working in systems like Vklass and Teams.

Torekällgymnasiet is Södertälje's municipal vocational upper secondary school. The school has a strong connection to working life and industries. With us, we focus on professional pride and create a holistic education through collaborations between subjects in projects related to the profession.

After completing their education, students can go directly into working life or continue their studies. At Torekällgymnasiet, students can also combine their studies with elite sports by applying for NIU education. The school also offers a vocational introduction program within construction and civil engineering, care and nursing, and children and leisure.

Selection and interviews may take place continuously during the application period.

An employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security investigation with register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment is made. For some of our security-class tasks, Swedish citizenship is required.
