School Nurse in Mariestad Municipality

The Education Administration operates within preschool and pedagogical care, primary and secondary school, upper secondary school, adult education, child and student health services, and the municipality's catering unit.

Within the Child and Student Health Services, we work primarily with preventive and health-promoting measures. For the autumn term, we are looking for a school nurse to be stationed at Kvarnstenen and Lyrestad schools for grades Pre-K to 6.

Job Responsibilities

As a school nurse in Mariestad Municipality, you are employed within the Child and Student Health Services and work on behalf of the principal. In this role, you will be based at Kvarnstenen and Lyrestad schools (grades Pre-K to 6), which are two smaller units located just south and north of the town center, respectively.

Your main responsibilities are to follow Mariestad Municipality's baseline program for medical interventions in student health services. These include, among other things:

• Health visits
• Health conversations
• Vaccinations
• Issues concerning students' working environment and lifestyle-related ill health

You are part of the school's student health team, consisting of a school nurse, school counselor, and special educator, along with the principal. We work in a cross-professional manner close to the educational activities. In close collaboration with the school's work team and within the student health team, we carry out health-promoting work at the organizational, group, and individual levels.

In addition to your main responsibilities, the role also includes:

• Consultation and supervision for staff and school management.
• Teamwork regarding students in need of support.
• School-related investigation assignments at both individual, group, and organizational levels.
• Collaboration with other personnel in child and student health services as well as other partners, such as primary care, social services, habilitation, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP).

You will play an important role in Mariestad Municipality's child and student health work and school development. In our schools and preschools, staff are encouraged to take initiative and think innovatively. The operations are characterized by the fact that we are part of a biosphere reserve, designated by UNESCO as a pioneer in the work with sustainable societal development.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with specialist education as a district nurse, pediatric nurse, or school nurse. Experience working specifically as a school nurse is an advantage.

You have a high sense of responsibility, are meticulous, and flexible. As a school nurse, you are confident working independently and have a good ability to collaborate and cooperate. You communicate easily and meet people well, and you enjoy working with children, young people, and their guardians. Furthermore, we see that you have good linguistic, written, and analytical skills. You have a positive and accommodating attitude and see possibilities in change.

Previous experience of collaboration with other operations, such as BUP (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) and IFO (Individualized Family Support), is meritorious.

A driver's license and access to a personal car are required.
