ABOUT THE WORKPLACE

The Technical Division in Nyköping Municipality consists of five operational areas: Streets/Parks/Harbor, Nyköping Water, Waste Management, Municipal Properties, and Meal Service.

Meal Service is the municipality's youngest operation – but also one of our most important strategic investments. We are responsible for meals for schools, preschools, and elderly care throughout the municipality. The operation covers approximately 60 kitchens, produces around 9,000 portions every day, and is staffed by approximately 160 dedicated employees.

Since autumn 2018, Meal Service has been built with the goal of being completely self-sufficient with its own staff and kitchens. We are now in the next phase of development, focusing on quality, future goals, and long-term sustainability. A new management structure is being introduced to work in a more trust-based manner and closer to our kitchens and employees.

Our overarching goal is to serve delicious, sustainable, and healthy meals that contribute to well-being, good health, and satisfied diners – every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Unit Manager, you have overall responsibility for operations, personnel, and economy within your unit area. You lead approximately 50 employees across a large geographical area and have two area managers to support you.

The Area Manager is responsible for the daily operational work and is the closest leader to the operations. The Area Manager ensures that daily life functions, quality is maintained at a high level, and that employees receive support in their daily work.

The Area Manager acts as the link between the Unit Manager's strategic responsibility and the employees' practical work.

The Unit Manager, together with 2 Area Managers within their area, is responsible for creating a safe and pleasant workplace where our chefs and meal assistants have the opportunity to achieve our vision: to offer Sweden's best Meal Service for our diners through good service as well as delicious, sustainable, and healthy meals!

You play a central role in translating the operation's goals into practical results. With a focus on quality, participation, responsibility, and balanced economics, you drive an operation in constant development where the diner's experience is always in focus.

Your leadership is trust-based, clear, and inclusive. You create engagement and good conditions for employees to succeed in their tasks. A safe and health-promoting work environment is a natural part of the role, and you are responsible for planning and conducting APT (Annual Work Environment Review) as well as working systematically with work environment issues in dialogue with employees and area managers.

As Unit Manager, you are part of the management group for Meal Service, where you, together with other unit managers, the operations manager, and support functions, work strategically for long-term quality, efficiency, and future goal achievement.

• Personnel responsibility including work environment, rehabilitation, and competence development
• Economic and budget responsibility as well as follow-up of results
• Operational development with a focus on quality, sustainability, and satisfied diners
• Collaboration internally and externally

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have:

• A university degree or other education and/or experience that the employer assesses meets the requirements for the position
• Experience as a manager
• Experience in having responsibility for budget, results, and follow-up
• Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
• Hold a valid driver's license (Category B)

Meritorious:

• Experience from kitchen, diet, or meal operations
• Experience from the public sector
• Experience leading service operations, for example within cleaning, hotels, restaurants, or other services

You have a strong operational focus and a good holistic view. You are clear, structured, and receptive with good collaboration skills. You build trust, create engagement, and thrive in a role where development and improvement are a natural part of everyday life. You are secure in your managerial role and lead with a trust-based approach that promotes participation and responsibility.
