We are now looking for a Bell-ringer to Karlstad Cathedral!

Description

As a bell-ringer, you are directly subordinate to the parish priest, just like the other church caretakers. You lead the daily work regarding planning, coordination, and execution of the practical operations and maintenance of Karlstad Cathedral.

The team consists of church caretakers (1.5 FTE) and hourly extra resources.

Job Responsibilities

Your main areas of responsibility include:

• Daily maintenance, operation, and upkeep of Karlstad Cathedral and the associated parish house
• Care of the church's interior environments and furnishings, as well as some outdoor maintenance
• Planning and staffing for services, church ceremonies, and events
• Participation in services and church ceremonies, where you may also have a liturgical function in certain cases
• Coordination of practical efforts in connection with concerts and arrangements
• Planning, recruitment, and training of summer guides
• Some guiding where the church's history, faith, and life are communicated

The role also includes responsibility for systematic work environment efforts, fire safety work, and handling of alarm and security systems. Administrative tasks and some budget responsibility are a natural part of the position.

As a church caretaker, you are often the first person visitors and members meet. Therefore, it is important that you have a good ability to meet people in different stages of life – in both joy and sorrow.

The position involves regular evening and weekend duties.

Qualifications

You have at least a high school education and experience in property maintenance, service work, or other operations that the employer deems equivalent. You have technical knowledge and good experience working practically with operations and maintenance.

You are a member of the Church of Sweden and share its values. A driver's license is required, as is good computer skills since the work involves administrative systems, email, Teams, and access control systems. Since the service is central to the Church of Sweden's mission, it is an advantage if you regularly participate in the church's worship life.

We are looking for you who work in a structured manner, have a holistic perspective, and a good ability to plan and coordinate work. You enjoy collaborating with others but can also work independently and take personal responsibility. The role requires flexibility, as the operations are characterized by variation and rapid changes.

You have a developed sense for service and a professional approach. Since the role involves many contact points, it is important that you feel secure in your meetings with people.

Karlstad Cathedral Parish is one of five parishes included in the Karlstad Pastorate. In addition to our five parishes, the pastorate consists of a joint administration and a cemetery administration. The Karlstad Pastorate is led by the Dean, and we have approximately 200 employees. We work to create good operations and value for our members.
