Speech Therapist for Norr Rehabilitation

The rehabilitation unit offers interventions for patients with congenital or early-acquired disabilities that cause difficulties in daily life, such as autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, or motor impairments. By providing advice, support, and treatment to the individual and their network, we can prevent and reduce difficulties that a disability may entail. We create conditions for the individual to function in the best possible way in their daily life.

We work in cross-professional teams depending on whether the patient is a child/adolescent or an adult. The teams include occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, speech therapists, doctors, nurses, special educators, and team secretaries. In addition to assessment and treatment for eating and swallowing difficulties as well as communication difficulties, you will provide support to the patient, family, and their wider network. The role also involves investigating, introducing, and implementing alternative and/or augmentative communication. You will work both independently and together with other experienced colleagues, making the work stimulating. You will also prescribe various types of assistive devices that you follow up on, build upon, and support patients in developing with.

The position involves varied tasks, including individual contacts and conducting training for individuals and their networks together with the rest of the team. You will also contribute to the development of the operations from a speech therapy perspective, where research and method development are encouraged. As a new employee, you will receive supervision/training both within your professional group and in the teams based on your needs.

About You

You are a licensed speech therapist and can work both independently and in collaboration with others. You have a genuine interest in supporting and working with patients within rehabilitation. You enjoy meeting patients' needs using the specialist knowledge you possess as a speech therapist. It is natural for you to collaborate with colleagues, care partners, preschools/schools, authorities, and others. You have experience working with communication, speech and language difficulties, as well as eating and swallowing difficulties. We would appreciate it if you had experience working with children and adolescents and/or adults with disabilities. Meritorious is experience with rehabilitation interventions, cross-professional work, and competence regarding both low- and high-tech augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

You are proactive, interested in development, and motivated by finding solutions focused on the patient. To thrive with us, you need to have good skills in planning, structuring, and adapting your work, collaborating with others, and prioritizing effectively. You are computer literate and enjoy working with other professions towards a common goal. You need good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as a B driver's license, as travel is part of the job. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The base unit covers child, adolescent, and adult rehabilitation as well as hearing centers in the six northern municipalities of Kalmar County. The operation has approximately 50 employees, of which approximately 14 are at the rehabilitation unit in Oskarshamn.

Västervik Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. It is an emergency hospital with maternity care and a neonatal ward.
