Information Specialist at SBU – Scientific Information Provision and Health Economics

The Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services (SBU) is a knowledge agency under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. Our mandate is to conduct scientific assessments of methods within healthcare (including dentistry) as well as interventions within social services and support under the LSS Act (Act on Support and Service for Certain Functionally Impaired). At SBU, collaboration is the foundation of a positive work environment, the core of our daily operations, and crucial for the quality of our products. The agency employs approximately 100 people.

About the Unit

The Unit for Scientific Information Provision and Health Economics currently consists of eight colleagues, half of whom are information specialists and half are health economists. Both roles are key functions for SBU projects, as literature searches form the basis for all our products and health economic assessments are included in many of our assignments.

Your Responsibilities

As an Information Specialist at SBU, you will work with scientific information provision, focusing on literature searches related to SBU projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct structured and often comprehensive literature searches for SBU's systematic reviews and other projects.
  • Explain and discuss literature search questions with the project team, often in consultation with external experts.
  • Document and describe literature searches in writing for SBU's reports.
  • Actively participate in method development regarding various stages of the literature search process.
  • Contribute to work within SBU where scientific information provision is a relevant perspective.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent education.
  • Experience with literature searches for research projects, systematic reviews, or other types of knowledge compilations. Alternatively, experience as an information specialist or librarian at a research, specialized, or hospital library.
  • Good knowledge of the content and structure of scientific databases, e.g., Medline, Embase, and Sociological Abstracts.
  • Good knowledge of search techniques and search logic.
  • Very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Merits

  • Experience in method or quality development within scientific information provision.
  • Strong pedagogical skills, preferably with experience in teaching literature search methods.
  • Experience with reference management software such as EndNote.
  • Experience working with database and journal collections.
  • Experience using AI in the work with systematic literature reviews.

Personal Qualities

We place great emphasis on personal qualities such as teamwork, responsibility, and a structured approach to work.

What We Offer

At SBU, you will be part of the work for a sustainable society and a strong welfare system. Here you will have the opportunity to engage with research and work together with competent and engaged colleagues in a pleasant work climate. We have bright offices in Stockholm with the possibility of remote work up to two days per week (if operations allow). We also offer a generous wellness allowance and 1.5 hours of wellness time per week during working hours.

Scope and Start Date

This is a permanent full-time position (100%). SBU applies a 6-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.

How to Apply

We look forward to receiving your application by June 7, 2026. Applications are only accepted via the agency's recruitment tool, which you can find on our website under "Vacancies".
