Specialist Trainee in Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery, Uppsala University Hospital
We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
Within the field of plastic and maxillofacial surgery, a significant portion of the hospital's highly specialized national and regional care is conducted, as well as the region's two national healthcare assignments, all in close collaboration between different specialties. We are an expanding operation with just over 200 employees. Our profile areas are leading in Sweden within burn care, cleft lip and palate surgery, craniofacial surgery, and microsurgical reconstruction. The care of our patients takes place in multidisciplinary teams with representatives from within and outside the field of operation. We focus on the continuous development of our operations with the patient in focus, and our operations are quality certified according to ISO 9001:2015 and SS-EN 15224:2017. The operation also includes a laboratory for research on wound healing, bone regeneration, and connective tissue activation. Several cross-professional development and research collaborations with various actors within the hospital and Uppsala University have been established.
Your Role
We are now looking for you who have a genuine interest in reconstructive surgery including burn care, research, and development, and who wish to train as a plastic surgeon in Uppsala. As a specialist trainee (ST-läkare) at our clinic, you are a central person expected to contribute to the operation's good working climate, forward-looking attitude, and work towards clinical development. We have a strong research and education structure, and as a specialist trainee with us, you will actively participate in these activities which are continuously carried out within the field of operation. Experience from research and development work is a prerequisite.
Your Qualifications
You must be a licensed physician and be able to demonstrate strong motivation to become a plastic surgeon. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities such as initiative, flexibility, and teamwork skills. Surgical experience and research within plastic surgery are meritorious.
We Offer
The position is a permanent employment with a probationary period of 6 months. On-call and standby duty are included in the position. As a specialist trainee in plastic surgery at Uppsala University Hospital, you are offered a structured educational program, a motivating workplace, and extensive support in both research and clinical practice. Here, you receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).
