Avesta Hospital is a small county hospital offering primary care for residents in southern Dalarna and northern Västmanland. The hospital has a combined clinic comprising emergency care, medicine, geriatrics, and rehabilitation. This provides good conditions for fast and efficient care, from the emergency department to inpatient wards and further to rehabilitation in the patient's home. The hospital has approximately 40 beds distributed across an acute care ward, an internal medicine ward, and a ward for acute geriatrics, stroke, and rehabilitation. The emergency department is open 24/7 and treats approximately 20,000 patients per year.

A large part of the operations consists of specialized outpatient care, offering various clinics and investigations, such as cardiology (echocardiography, Holter monitoring, blood pressure measurements, TEE, exercise tests), endocrinology, nephrology (including home dialysis), gastroenterology (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), sleep medicine (nocturnal respiratory recordings and polysomnography), and dementia investigations. Additionally, general internal medicine and geriatric investigations and treatment are offered, including bone marrow biopsies, pleural and ascitic taps, lumbar punctures, and more. The clinic also provides extensive inpatient paramedical care, as well as day and home rehabilitation. In total, we have 200 employees across various professional categories. We place great emphasis on education, and our goal is to be Sweden's best junior doctor school, which has contributed to our high ranking for medical placements in the AT ranking.

As a specialist in internal medicine, you will be part of the clinic's work in both inpatient and outpatient care. You will take on ward responsibilities for part of the ward, including supervision of junior doctors, and have your own outpatient clinic. The duties also include on-call duties. You will serve as a supervisor for AT, BT, and/or ST doctors, thereby contributing to a good educational climate. The position is full-time, but part-time opportunities may exist.

Requirements:

• Swedish medical license and specialist competence in internal medicine and/or a closely related relevant specialty
• Swedish language skills at least at C1 level
