Specialist Physician in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) in Hudiksvall
The Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) department provides both emergency and planned ENT care, including outpatient clinics and surgical services. The clinic in Hudiksvall is the only ENT clinic in Hälsingland, serving a catchment area of approximately 130,000 patients. We are located in newly built facilities at Hudiksvall Hospital, where the planning of the premises and the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment were carried out in consultation with the staff.
Our team consists of four specialist physicians, four resident physicians (ST-doctors), and junior doctors, working together with nurses, assistant nurses, and medical secretaries.
Job Description
As a specialist physician, you will enjoy a varied and developmental role. We provide both planned and emergency care at the clinic and in the central operating theatre. You will always work in close collaboration with assistant nurses and nurses, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
We offer a broad surgical practice with general anesthesia surgeries three days a week and local anesthesia surgeries two to three days a week, providing excellent opportunities for professional development. The role also includes natural leadership responsibilities, where you act as a role model in clinical work and contribute to the development of the department. We also actively work on sustainability issues to contribute to greener healthcare.
Working hours are Monday to Thursday 07:30–16:30 and Friday 07:30–14:00, with evening and night on-call duties Monday to Thursday. No activities are held in Hudiksvall during weekends and public holidays, in which case inpatient ENT patients are transferred to Gävle. Weekend on-call duties in Gävle are shared between physicians in Hudiksvall and Gävle.
As a specialist physician, your duties will include, among other things:
- Diagnosis and treatment of patients
- Surgeries and follow-ups
- Mentoring and supervision of resident physicians and junior doctors

Qualifications
As a specialist physician, you are expected to contribute high medical competence and a professional attitude. The role requires strong collaboration skills, where you actively participate in multidisciplinary work and contribute to a well-functioning care chain. We are looking for someone with a well-developed holistic perspective who can balance the patient's individual needs with the department's goals and resources.
You are flexible and able to adapt to changing conditions, while working independently and taking responsibility for driving your work forward in a structured and efficient manner. Mentoring and supporting colleagues and students is an important part of the role, so we look for someone with pedagogical skills and an interest in sharing knowledge and experience.
As a specialist physician, you must be:
- A licensed physician
- Specialized in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT)
