We have made our decision! We aim to be a leading municipality – and we have everything it takes to succeed. Short decision-making paths, collaboration across operational boundaries, and the willingness to dare more. Our high ambitions give you, with your own drive, the opportunity to grow and create positive change for the citizens. As an employee of Ekerö Municipality, you will have a valuable role in our unique archipelago world – and we look forward to your application.
Uppgårdsskolan is a municipal secondary school (grades 7–9). The school is located next to Stenhamra Centre, Färingsö, Ekerö Municipality. The school has approximately 310 students distributed in classes of about 21–26 students. We are proud of and value a calm and secure school environment in beautiful facilities with green areas directly adjacent to the school. We have a strong and competent teaching staff where you are given the opportunity to develop teaching, operations, and yourself as a pedagogue. As a pedagogue, you stimulate and meet the student based on their own prerequisites and needs. As a mentor, you are the single most important person at the school for the student – skills such as building relationships and giving meaning and context are of great importance. We cherish and work for the student's right to develop as far as possible by maintaining high quality in teaching and placing the student's knowledge development at the center.
Job Description
In Ekerö Municipality, teachers get time for the children and teaching – today we are one of Sweden's leading school municipalities. Our surroundings are made to connect with parts of the curriculum through our rich nature and cultural history. To give students the best conditions, our municipal schools continuously share experiences and lessons with each other. Here we view collegial learning as a prerequisite for students' development.
We are now looking for a teacher in wood and metal crafts for the secondary level. We are looking for a driven and positive teacher who puts student learning at the center. You are accustomed to working goal-oriented and formatively with your students. You are a clear leader in the classroom and create good relationships with the students. You are curious, solution-oriented, and interested in pedagogical development and research. If this sounds like you, you are who we are looking for! You will be a mentor for a class together with a mentor colleague.
We are a "moderately sized" secondary school with four parallel classes. We have small groups of around 21-26 students and a special education group at the school. Our vision is to be a place where we make a difference; we believe we can make a big difference by taking care of the small things. We do this by focusing on both knowledge and relationships by being careful to see and meet every student and colleague.
Collegial learning is important, so here you will belong to a work team/year group where you meet mentor colleagues; this group is led by a year group developer. You will also belong to a subject group, where you co-plan and develop your subjects together with your subject colleagues. The lead teachers lead the joint pedagogical development at the school through our UPP conferences.
We work a lot with safety and well-being; we have a calm and nice environment and very nice students. At the school, there is a safety team consisting of the principal, teacher assistant/student coach, special needs pedagogue, and counselor who support teachers in maintaining a calm and safe place for everyone.
With us, you get the opportunity to be part of developing your subjects and the school as a whole while simultaneously meeting a well-rooted organization with room and space for collaboration and collegial meetings. We are well equipped digitally and would like you to have a habit and interest in working digitally with students and in your daily work. We work in Teams and Unikum; if you have worked with these or similar systems before, it is a merit.
Qualifications
To be able to handle the assignment, we would like you to meet the following qualifications:
- Educated teacher in wood and metal crafts.
- Clear leader in the classroom.
- Basic ICT competence.
- Accustomed to working goal-oriented and individually adapted.
Start date: 2026-08-10
Scope: 100%
Employment type: Permanent
