Linköping is home to one of Sweden's six pediatric oncology centers. Our childhood cancer center consists of inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and day care. On the ward, in addition to children with oncological and hematological diseases, we also treat children with diabetes requiring inpatient care and children with neurosurgical conditions. The collaboration between the different units at H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria's Children's and Adolescents' Hospital is well-developed, and the ward also has the competence to care for children with other medical and nursing needs. We participate in national and international studies in pediatric oncology, and our own research is conducted, among other things, in collaboration with the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization (CMIV) and Linköping University. There are two board-certified senior consultants at the Childhood Cancer Center. We also have three PhD students in pediatric oncology, one of whom is expected to defend their thesis in 2027.
